| Disenchanted | Reason? |
| AndyCR1 | well, i have another issue, gnome-power-manager wont detect my screen lid being closed |
| mattmatteh | Disenchanted, but then you will only be able to install 32 bit kernel Disenchanted, might be a 64 bit problem with that driver/module |
| Disenchanted | I guess i'll get knoppix downloaded |
| mattmatteh | Disenchanted, something to test with. that way you will know what works and what doesnt |
| DrChandra | MacSx: gnugo, qgo |
| Byan | Disenchanted: it's probably better if you figure out what ethernet card chipset you have and google |
| mattmatteh | Disenchanted, and you can install gentoo 32 bit on amd64 |
| Byan | if you have had a problem |
| Disenchanted | Byan: nforce5 |
| Byan | so have other people |
| mattmatteh | Disenchanted, you might not need 64 bits |
| JackieRipper | Disenchanted: I'm confused... ethernet was/is working outside of the chroot, but failing inside, right? |
| Byan | thats the ethernet card chipset? |
| iapitus | Disenchanted, wait a moment - nforce5 isn't forcedeth -- do you get any output from "ifconfig -a"? |
| Disenchanted | iapitus: Yes iapitus: Both eth0,1, and lo |
| Byan | lol... |
| cybane | WTF ifconfig is not working |
| Gtwy | River_Rat: what do i need to install if i want my scripts to send confirmation emails to users |
| iapitus | Disenchanted, okay - do either of them say UP right below Link encap or inet addr? |
| Gtwy | River_Rat: never did much mail stuff from the server |
| Disenchanted | JackieRipper: That was once correct. Now, even outside chroot, I cannot do anytthing. |
| JackieRipper | ahhh |
| River_Rat | Gtwy: Some sort of mail handler. I prefer qmail. Sendmail is another choice but huge and complex. |
| Disenchanted | iapitus: Yes. Both have all of the above. |
| cybane | nm it is on my system it is just not usable from where ever |
| Gtwy | River_Rat: thanks |
| River_Rat | Gtwy: There is a #gentoo-netmail channel |
| iapitus | Disenchanted, okay - i'm sorry - i walked in in the middle of this discussion and got the wrong idea about what was wrong -- i'd bet that if you rebooted you'd have your network back - and when you copied over your resolv.conf into your chroot you'd be fine |
| cybane | How do you get the different colors for the different types of files? |
| marik | Cybane, --color=auto |
| pekster | Cybane: ls --color=auto ? |
| Disenchanted | iapitus: Problem is, i'm not in chroot. Here's the problem. My nforce5 ethernet on an ASUS P5N32 is not recognized on a Gentoo amd64 LiveDVD. I found the kernel parameter of irqpoll allows internet to work, but, now, it appears in any terminal, whether chrooted or not, it refuses to work. |
| Gtwy | River_Rat: its about dead River_Rat: so qmail is blocked, but not by ssmtp |
| cybane | Okay so I need to setup some kind of config |
| pekster | Cybane: Usually one puts an alias to that effect in /etc/profile so that it automatically uses that for all users. I think some Gentoo update puts that in if you're still running a fresh install without updating world |
