DisenchantedReason?
AndyCR1well, i have another issue, gnome-power-manager wont detect my screen lid being closed
mattmattehDisenchanted, but then you will only be able to install 32 bit kernel
Disenchanted, might be a 64 bit problem with that driver/module
DisenchantedI guess i'll get knoppix downloaded
mattmattehDisenchanted, something to test with. that way you will know what works and what doesnt
DrChandraMacSx: gnugo, qgo
ByanDisenchanted: it's probably better if you figure out what ethernet card chipset you have
and google
mattmattehDisenchanted, and you can install gentoo 32 bit on amd64
Byanif you have had a problem
DisenchantedByan: nforce5
Byanso have other people
mattmattehDisenchanted, you might not need 64 bits
JackieRipperDisenchanted: I'm confused... ethernet was/is working outside of the chroot, but failing inside, right?
Byanthats the ethernet card chipset?
iapitusDisenchanted, wait a moment - nforce5 isn't forcedeth -- do you get any output from "ifconfig -a"?
Disenchantediapitus: Yes
iapitus: Both eth0,1, and lo
Byanlol...
cybaneWTF ifconfig is not working
GtwyRiver_Rat: what do i need to install if i want my scripts to send confirmation emails to users
iapitusDisenchanted, okay - do either of them say UP right below Link encap or inet addr?
GtwyRiver_Rat: never did much mail stuff from the server
DisenchantedJackieRipper: That was once correct. Now, even outside chroot, I cannot do anytthing.
JackieRipperahhh
River_RatGtwy: Some sort of mail handler. I prefer qmail. Sendmail is another choice but huge and complex.
Disenchantediapitus: Yes. Both have all of the above.
cybanenm it is on my system it is just not usable from where ever
GtwyRiver_Rat: thanks
River_RatGtwy: There is a #gentoo-netmail channel
iapitusDisenchanted, okay - i'm sorry - i walked in in the middle of this discussion and got the wrong idea about what was wrong -- i'd bet that if you rebooted you'd have your network back - and when you copied over your resolv.conf into your chroot you'd be fine
cybaneHow do you get the different colors for the different types of files?
marikCybane, --color=auto
peksterCybane: ls --color=auto ?
Disenchantediapitus: Problem is, i'm not in chroot. Here's the problem. My nforce5 ethernet on an ASUS P5N32 is not recognized on a Gentoo amd64 LiveDVD. I found the kernel parameter of irqpoll allows internet to work, but, now, it appears in any terminal, whether chrooted or not, it refuses to work.
GtwyRiver_Rat: its about dead
River_Rat: so qmail is blocked, but not by ssmtp
cybaneOkay so I need to setup some kind of config
peksterCybane: Usually one puts an alias to that effect in /etc/profile so that it automatically uses that for all users. I think some Gentoo update puts that in if you're still running a fresh install without updating world
