kojiroedoardo|office: it basically "registers" binpackages for use with Gentoo
s/Gentoo/portage
codertuxuberpinguin, root 31537 0.0 0.1 4468 1668 ? D 17:49 0:00 /usr/sbin/powersaved -d -f /var/run/acpid.socket
yes
edoardo|officekojiro, meanin'?
kojiro, it did it. now what?
DLangehkBst: Well bugzilla says "You have the following choices: Sumbit my changes anyway - This will cause all of the above changes to be overwritten." and showed me your change which was adding yourself to the CC list. Either he or you are wrong. But then, who trusts computers...
uberpinguincodertux: that means it's a zombie; it's not necessary to kill it, but if you _really_ want to then find its parent process and kill that.
kojiroedoardo|office: what categories do you see in /usr/portage/packages/? What folders besides "All" ?
codertuxuberpinguin, how can i do that?
edoardo|officekojiro, *a lot*. many x11 among'em
kojiroedoardo|office: I see, so you have a ton of packages, I gather?
codertuxuberpinguin, top says there are no zombies...
uberpinguincodertux: hm.
actionuberpinguin wonders why that process would show up with 'grep Z' then...
uberpinguinwonders why that process would show up with 'grep Z' then...
edoardo|officekojiro, pretty much. this is a ten boxes lan and there are three athlonxp. so PKGDIR for athlon-xp on the server has lots of stuff. cause basically i compile on one and install binaries on the other two
zlinkojiro: what is fixpackages supposed to fix?
is_nullhello everybody, i am not sure why acpid is ignoring /etc/acpi/default.sh, it's not doing it's job neither on case power, neither on case lid (close & open), any idea anybody please ? (/etc/init.d/acpid status : started of course)
uberpinguincodertux: nm, figured it out - grep is catching the VSZ field name ><
kojiroedoardo|office: ok, try emerge -Ka =x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.9-r2
actionkojiro hopes he has the cat right
kojirohopes he has the cat right
DeL3e7edoardo|office, u mess around with distcc?
uberpinguincodertux: the D means it is in Disk Sleep; so it's waiting for response from a child and will not wake up to receive your kill signal until it gets that response. AFAIK, your only recourse is to reboot.
edoardo|officekojiro, same issue
DeL3e7, i guess
kojiroedoardo|office: which is what?
is_null(http://phpfi.com/205756 : my /etc/acpi/default.sh)
codertuxuberpinguin, hmmm... and i thought linux does not need reboots...
edoardo|officekojiro, !!! Problem in '=x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.2-r2' dependencies.
!!! Conditional without parenthesis: 'opengl?' portage_exception
kojiro, then traceback
DeL3e7or maybe just use NFS instead of all those "double copies"
FBdevhi everybody.
uberpinguincodertux: generally, it does not. Sometimes it's the only way to kill a process that has crashed.
Anyone else know a way to kill a process that's in Disk Sleep?
edoardo|officeDeL3e7, what double copies?
zlinedoardo|office: it's because the ebuild in the binpkg is broken. portage 2.1.1 and previous ignored that. 2.1.2 doesn't tolerate it.
edoardo|officeDeL3e7, was that to me?
kojiroedoardo|office: that package has an ebuild that is not compatible with modern portage
DeL3e7distcc is crazy neat, distributed compiling
