nyk2005How can I set the title of a xterm window? I use "xterm -title foo -e bar.sh", but the title is then bar.sh
CroolLike a letter "e" with an accent mark
andreikojiro: thanks a lot
CroolI had to type ? or something
andreikojiro: so after that it will work for sure?
uberpinguinCrool: you mean like ?
kojiroAndrei: assuming the emerges don't fail, yeah
CroolI thought ? was universal for characters and symbols that aren't on the US keyboard
Yes that
mherweghi all! after updating gentoo is not using /etc/hosts anymore. any ideas ?
hkBstzeke2007: it doesn't say what the error was?
CroolI don't have a character map installed in my system
zeke2007hkBst: no
andreizlin
zlinAndrei: when the packages have been built the circular deps have been satisfied and you can reenable the flags with --deep --newuse ..
uberpinguinCrool: ? is a single-character wild card; kind of like * only it substitutes _one_ character.
CroolOh okay
andreizlin: is there anything else i should set in make.conf before i start this thing?
zlinAndrei: nothing abundantly obvious.
CroolDoesn't work for othe symbols that are created with Shift+a number key
uberpinguinCrool: I actually have an international layout with deadkeys for my keyboard, so for I hit 'apostrophe e'
andreizlin: ok i guess u looked at my emerge --info?
zeke2007are there portage logs and where are they?
zlinAndrei: now I did. it shows on the --pretend output though as all the drivers are pulled in as N(ew)
uberpinguinzeke2007: almost all system logs reside in /var/log/
andreizlin: so what does that mean?
kojirozeke2007: /var/log/emerge.log, and also check if elog is turned on (if you want it, read /etc/make.conf.example
zlinAndrei: look at the list of packages for x11-drivers/xf86-video-*
andreizlin: how do i do that?
zlin: :)
kojiroAndrei: emerge -s xf86-video
zeke2007elog is tuned off, but there is /var/log/emerge.log. But `grep error emerge.log` prints nothing. Is it safe to continue? Can it cause security problems in the future?
zlinAndrei: you just look at http://rafb.net/p/Z0h44B15.html
mx-zoomhey. I am using usb headphones and they're recognized as an independent audio device. Sometimes theu sart as hw:1 and other times as hw:0. how can I set it?
kojirozeke2007: what was the error?
zlinAndrei: you pasted it yourself. :P
zeke2007kojiro: I don't know, it prints * Regenerating GNU info directory index... * Processed 92 info files; 1 errors.
andreizlin: ok i looked now what?
zeke2007* IMPORTANT: 12 config files in '/etc' need updating. * Type emerge --help config to learn how to update config files.
zlinzeke2007: hmm.. why are you grepping for errors in emerge.log?
