ssorgnah dude i seriously am going to bake a bananna cake now
have to go buy the ingredians
mmm_edit_21: yes that's exactly the problem here, I get an IP but no traffic
ssorg: thanks for the help :) enjoy baking
idunhamwhen i try to do a 'fetch' 'digest' as a package, it comes up says "Appending to PORTDIRT_OVERLAY... !!! does not seem to have a valid PORTDIR structure"
SPOPPOgood
edit_21can you pastebin me your ifconfig out of intrest pls
kojiroidunham: does it?
idunhamkojiro, it does...lol
kojiroidunham: well, either PORTDIR_OVERLAY points to a different dir then, or you're wrong :)
idunhamkojiro, how do i fix it? :-p
kojiroidunham: emerge --info | grep OVERLAY -- does that look sane?
idunhammaybe, i don't know yet
mmm_edit_21: sure, http://pastebin.ca/366059
idunhamhm
it comes up and says Unset: and a bunch of things. like CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS and at the very end it says PORTDIRT_OVERLAY
edit_21mmm_, do the same with iwconfig pls
igliidunham: usually means you don't have correct dir structure under eg /usr/local/portage - so you'd need say /cat/pkg/
edit_21brb
mmm_edit_21: hm, i don't seem to have iwconfig -- it comes with wireless-tools, right? doesn't wpa_supplicant allow you to omit wireless-tools?
nanobansheemmm_: you need both
mmm_: wireless-tools allows you to set channel, access point, etc.
idunhamok, so i need to change the directory for portage, right?
mmm_nanobanshee: ah ok, i didn't realiz that... it's emerging :)

ivanmDoes anyone know what this error means: "** ERROR **: Failed to connect to system bus: Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: Connection refused"?
mmm_hm when i restarted net.eth1 i got a lot of "Resource not available" messages :(
ivanmGoogle doesn't help... :(
nanobansheeivanm: /etc/init.d/dbus start
edit_21mmm_, yeah as nanobanshee said,
mmm_, holler if that dont fixxor things
ivanmnanobanshee: whoops, I thought I had dbus starting at startup... I'll add it now... should it go to default or boot?
nanobansheedefault
ivanmOktane, now that I've started dbus, I'm getting this error: "** (process:32601): WARNING **: libhal_ctx_init failed with D-Bus error (null): (null)"
is that a fatal one, or will the program keep going?
It also has this one: "** (process:32601): WARNING **: init_hal: failed"
Ignore that: for some reason hal had stopped working as well :s
