tommyangelocause I never know which option is the right one
InsolenceWell, you may have a .config in there that differs from what your kernel is actually configured with
tommyangelogood point
InsolenceYeah, I think we all use make menuconfig, but does /proc/config.gz exist? If so, unzip that into somewhere and read it, and look for all the usb toys ;)
tommyangeloyup I have /proc/config.gz
ok I'll be back in five
Insolenceand maybe even diff it against your /usr/src/linux/.config ;)
np :) we'll be here, lol
tommyangelothx
AntializeHow can i make my USB sound card the default (in alsa) when it is plugged in... and still get sound when its not?
whykinghi
victor-Antialize: probably some sort of udev rule
_julianhmm, is it possible to only install the mysql-c-bindings, not the whole mysql server?
InsolenceI know nothing about udev rules, but if all else fails you can write/use a script to watch your messages or other log files that propogate when you plug in that device and run a shell script to switch it over upon plugging it in. But, that's kinda the do-it-yourself-and-don't-research-the-proper-solution kinda way. :P
whykingwhen I try to emerge krusader, emerge says he can't find the .tar.gz files
but, they are in the distfiles dir
other packages work just fine
i just tried xmms
weird
Antializevictor-: There is no other way? Then i will have to (re)start the sound applications on switch right?
victor-Antialize: udev should be able to do that for you
dragonheart_julian: minimal use flag dev-db/mysql:minimal - Install client programs only, no server
_juliandragonheart: thanks (c:
InsolenceAnyone here tried to setup KVM on Linux? (the "Kernel-Based Virtual Machine KVM" that is)
dragonheartInsolence: a guide i learnt off http://www.reactivated.net/udevrules.php
InsolenceErr, on gentoo even
rhicanInsolence, not yet
tommyangelook I went through the options
Insolencedragonheart: that looks like a nice primer, do you know if that takes into account new dynamic udev stuff?
tommyangeloall the relevant options are set to y
or m
InsolenceWell, the m's _may_ need to be manually inserted if they are relevant and you aren't auto-inserting them
tommyangelook
I'll try inserting all of them, maybe that'll work
Insolencelol. :) That works, lol
usually doesn't hurt
dragonheartInsolence: last mod on doc is 22 Oct 06 so maybe not fully -( i dont 'know when stuff occured in udev)
tommyangelolol
Insolencedragonheart: looks like a good read though, I've already begun. :) Good stuff
Thanks
