AF-SlashCan anyone help me with this problem?
NightKhaosmzbot: teach Varanger about handbook
mzbotVaranger: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/index.xml
YeTr2newimproved: no, but a freshly installed gentoo system w/ desktop would fit in under 4 gb..
CrypticfortuneAF-Slash: oo i had the same problem yesterday
NightKhaosmzbot: teach AF-Slash about ask
mzbotAF-Slash: Just ask. Don't ask to ask. Don't ask who's familiar. Don't ask if anyone knows about it. Just ask the question. Straightforward-like. Thanks for your time.
[R]reisio: whoever came up with this cocamamy addressing systme should be flogged
CrypticfortuneAF-Slash: solution from yesterday: You need to download these two files: http://gentoo.mirrors.tds.net/gentoo/distfiles/wget-1.10.2.tar.gz and http://gentoo.mirrors.tds.net/gentoo/distfiles/wget-1.10.2-gentoo-0.2.tar.bz2 -- stick them into /usr/portage/distfiles (of your installation, if your on the livecd you probably mounted your installation so it would be /mnt/gentoo/usr/portage/distfiles ). Then chroot into your install, and emerg
NightKhaos[R]: why?
caze_donfusionAF-Slash: make a link to the libssl.so
reisio[R]: yeah marienz was saying that, maybe you two could beat him up
[R]NightKhaos: "mzbot: thing" that is how it should be
newimprovedif you say so
reisioof course
back in the day it was just jeeves
richiefrichnewimproved: without X you can get it under 2G
reisioand he was still in google.de mode
[R]hehe
i remmber that
newimprovedok i believe you
actionunity needs to do a lot of xorg programming just to get an @x.org email address...
unityneeds to do a lot of xorg programming just to get an @x.org email address...
caze_donfusionAF-Slash: something like this: ln libssl.so.0.9.7 libssl.so.0.9.8
reisiounity: you can probably just donate some cash
NightKhaosunity: hehe
newimprovedbut my sytem has been horked from day 1
caze_donfusionAF-Slash: assuming you have the new version of libssl that is
newimprovedwith this problem ... so i dont know
Crypticfortuneok, now for my problem: after my first restart after compiling and instalilng my kernel, got a kernel panic, tried to reboot off of the install cd, and now my network card isnt found. What happened to my network card, and how do i get it back?
Varanger[R]: This is the same handbook I found, I meant that if there is an alternative handbook that uses the mininal iso and stage3. Do you know any??
YeTr2newimproved: then your friend should have either fixed it for you, or used a linux distribution that was more suited to your level of expirtiese
caze_donfusionAF-Slash: in case you didnt know yo want to run that command in your lib directory
NightKhaosVaranger: what ya mean?
newimprovedim recompiling xorg-server without anything in package use .. so what else will i have to recompile after this?
caze_donfusionAF-Slash: otherwise use the full paths
YeTr2newimproved: heck. I have kde, gnome, openoffice-bin, firefox, thunderbird installed on this machine... after stripping /usr/portage/, it still all fits into 4.1GB
JackieRipperCrypticfortune: is support for the card compiled into the kernel?
newimprovedYeTr2, he has been using gentoo for a long time
and now it has been almost a year and a half for me
[R]Varanger: the handbook explains two choices... minimal and installer... you want to read what it says about the minmimal
