ChrisGokde is installed
working on xdm now
or maybe i dont need
mistik1echo "exec startkde" ~/.xinitrc
Marco3marienz: ok I have run now dispatch-conf, its asking me what to do, what should I do?
mistik1who needs xdm unless you're dealing with remote terms
ChrisGomistik1 that makes the startx run kde correct?
mistik1echo "exec startkde" >~/.xinitrc
startx
marienzMarco3: you are overestimating my psychic powers or the amount of cameras in your house I have control over.
mistik1ChrisGo: do that as user
ChrisGo: the second example
ChrisGoyes what groups should i add to the user if i want to be a power user
Marco3marienz: its concerning the file conf.d/clock, it asked, use new, merge etc
marienzMarco3: you should update the /etc/conf.d/clock file to get the comment about TIMEZONE. Other than that I do not know without seeing the changes it is proposing.
ChrisGoi login as my non root user and do a su and get access denied all the time
marienzMarco3: it should have an option to show you the diff.
Marco3marienz: I see the diff.. but should I choose use new, merge or what..
marienzMarco3: I cannot tell without seeing the diff.
Marco3: if the diff adds the TIMEZONE stuff and makes no further changes: yes.
mistik1ChrisGo: You need at least "wheel, audio, cdrw, cdrom"
Mercestesloki_val: ROOT=/mnt/gentoo from a livecd seems to be fixing all my problems. I think I can emerge my way out of this mess.
marienzMarco3: if the diff also changes the things you have customized (like changing CLOCK to UTC): perhaps not.
Marco3marienz: it added the timezone stuff yes.. new use or merge?
marienzMarco3: if *all* it does is add those comments: yes.
Mercestesloki_val: I'm thinking a niec emerge -DNuatv world
Marco3marienz: I can change that back to local
mistik1ChrisGo: at least wheel to su, the rest are obvious
GuyFromHellanyone got a link to a good help file to get 802.1X authenticated wireless using some special certificates and such?
ChrisGomistik1 how do you add groups to an existing user?
loki_valmercestes: don't play too much with that thing. It's not supported.
mistik1man gpasswd
Mercesteszlin: grep -i bash /var/log/emerge.log didn't return any results but I think something overwrote my log.
ChrisGothanks
BoohbahSmiley: are you harassing LadyNikon again?
peksterCan I get some help setting up grub to dual-boot my Windows partition? My current grub configuration of "rootnoverify (hd1,1) makeactive chainloader +1" just prints that on the screen and hangs at a flashing cursor until I hit the reset button. I have confirmed through tab-completion that (hd1,1) is what grub thinks that partition is, so I'm at a loss why it won't start
loki_valmercestes: just fix your immediate problem and get out.
simmerzShirakawasuna: it does however say to uncomment #alias net-pf-10 off # IPv6
Mercestesloki_val: :o) Immediate problem is I don't have bash.
matty-mutt isn't using any mailboxes by default. If I start it like "mutt -f =default", it shows the emails. Anyone know how to make it use without passing it through as a parameter?
