|wd||hlieberman: thanks, actually i did it with the help of most of the ops my gentoo community.. :)|
|unity||hlieberman: since my kernel apparently doesn't support inotify (did i complie it right) perhaps i'll just stick something in crontab to clean it up|
|hlieberman||unity, That's the other way. :)|
unity, (Easier to code anyway. ;) )
|simmerz||how do i stop a module loading at boot?|
|marienz||Marco3: remerge baselayout, possibly with --noconfmem, to get the documentation about the setting you need to set.|
|zlin||unity: you might get away with `HOME=/whereever vmware-server` ... to put it somewhere else..|
|hlieberman||simmerz, There's a module blacklist somewhere.|
|wd||hlieberman: exactly. gotta go, reading page 17 of 98 of gentoo amd doc... gotta build me some power.|
|Marco3||marienz: just check, I suspect something there is not configured right|
|mechtn||putting gentoo on my laptop... does hybernation or standby work pretty easy?|
|wd||hlieberman: turn this PII 300 into a file server after that.|
|unity||zlin: yeah, like HOME=/dev/null, except then it doens't read the config files in .vmware|
|marienz||Marco3: that message is telling you to set TIMEZONE=something in that file. You should have a comment describing how to figure out what to set that to.|
Marco3: you do not have that comment, most likely because of a botched dispatch-conf or etc-update.
Marco3: that is all.
|troxor||does anyone use glsa-check -f, and see that lm-sensors always re-merges?|
|Shirakawasuna||simmerz: also, make sure it's not being loaded by /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 or is a dependency of something listed there|
|marienz||Marco3: there is nothing wrong with that file other than not having TIMEZONE set.|
|simmerz||Shirakawasuna: it isn't. its just loading because it can|
|Marco3||marienz: I will re-emerge.. and why remerge with noconfmem?|
|simmerz||Shirakawasuna: i found it. /etc/modules.conf|
|marienz||Marco3: just remerge baselayout and etc-update. If the comment is still not there, remerge baselayout with --noconfmem and etc-update.|
Marco3: emerge tries to be clever and detect that you're not interested in updates to a file because you customized it.
Marco3: remerging it may not give you the comment again since you threw the update away previously.
Marco3: --noconfmem disables that feature
|hlieberman||unity, You could try a chroot.|
|Marco3||marienz: nice, many thanks, highly appreciated|
|Shirakawasuna||simmerz: make sure you read the header of that file|
|mattmatteh||anyone know why i get ^H in sftp when i hit the backspace key instead of deleting the character ?|
|ChrisGo||omg i have a desktop with green header windows|
that must be progress huh?
|unity||hlieberman: i think at this point, * * * * * rmdir /home/unity/vmware is the cleanest solution|
|mistik1||ChrisGo: welcome to twm, eww|
|ChrisGo||its nice to see something :)|
|hlieberman||unity, Perhaps, yeah.|
|mistik1||ChrisGo: what is it you want to run?|
