novacainehi, is there a way to set the cpu speed under gnome? when i was on kde i used klaptop (or something like that) but in gnome i only find an applet which show me the cpu speed but i can't set it
doc|homeChrisGo: stay on-topic please
hliebermanmoonfart, That's a linux-uvc thing. (Unstable, half works, and v4l2 which means a lot of applications don't support it)
deitarionmoonfart: According to http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca5xx.html it uses the linux-uvc driver.
moonfartick
figures, its the only thing keeping me from completely getting rid of xp
deitarionmoonfart: It's more Linux-compatible than mine.
triplah_wis there a gtk version of opera?
moonfartthanx dudes, ipw3945 is the other god aweful thing i need to try to figure out
deitarionmoonfart: You want media-video/linux-uvc
UVC = USB Video Class (The Video equivalent of the standardized driver which handles USB Thumbdrives)
moonfartsays uvc has been masked
zlinnovacaine: I'm fairly sure I was able to change the speed with that applet last I was using in gnome (which is like 9 months ago..)
deitarionmoonfart: Are you on x86 Gentoo or AMD64?
moonfartdeitarion: x86
ErZotriplah_w: nope, it's Qt-only
deitarionThen it's just masked by the ~x86 keyword. (Which means the Gentoo people just haven't tested it enough to be certain it's stable)
WhatAHami wanna buy a 64-bit motherboard and CPU combo.. any recommendations?
MeowCatsmarienz, ok ready when you are
moonfartill take a little unstability :)
deitarionmoonfart: It may not be unstable. They just don't know.
marienzMeowCats: first check if emerge -vp --depclean is currently empty.
MeowCats: if it's not: pastebin the output.
deitarionmoonfart: echo "media-video/linux-uvc" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
marienzMeowCats: (do you know what --depclean does and what the world file does?)
zlinmzbot: gentoo moonfart mixing
mzbotmoonfart: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-hppa.xml?part=3&chap=3
moonfartkinky thanx
novacainezlin: are you talking about the "cpu frequency scaling monitor" in the panel?
RattyHave any of you guys run into this issue? I have removed the package and have looked for its dependencies, but none are found... I have also emerge ant-core succesfully also : [blocks B ] <dev-java/ant-tasks-1.7.0 (is blocking dev-java/ant-core-1.7.0)
zlinnovacaine: yup.
MeowCatsmarienz, world takes updates from the internet and depclean makes sure my packages are installed right?
marienzMeowCats: not quite :)
MeowCatsmarienz, http://pastebin.ca/366862
novacainezlin: how can I set manually the cpu speed?
