Adlaitodd3834, I have no problems with intel 3945
zlinfietronic: err.. only once. ever..
MercestesI don't *think* i did something stupid....but it's possible
zlinmercestes: did you see my grep request?
fietroniczlin: only once ever?
What?
Mercesteszlin: no.
zlinfietronic: you don't need to run grub-install just because you changed the conf.
MercestesI'm trying to reboot into a livecd now.
zlinmercestes: can you `grep bash /var/log/emerge.log` on that system ?
ChrisGowheres the xorg.conf file?
fietroniczlin, I didn't think so either but I did on my last install.
Mercesteszlin: Doesn't it show up in the pastebin? =/ But, yea, I can do that when I get it humming again.
fietronicI've started from scratch now but I had to run grub-install to get it to update the boot menu.
MeowCatswhats the add and remove program for gnome called? (the one that lets you uninstall some of the built in apps)
mjmwhat package is telnet part of?
i dont have it on my system
zlinfietronic: maybe it used to point to another partition? anyway you shouldn't need to do it again.
fietronicEh
I'll see if it does it again...
tecnicomjm: telnet-bsd
ChrisGowhere can i find the xorg.conf file?
zlinfietronic: I don't even edit it when I change my kernel. I've just pointed it to the symlinks that `make install` installs..
tecnicoChrisGo: /etc/X11
mjmtecnico: thanks!
ChrisGothat would be an issue if X11 was not there huh
how could kde install and not need that as depend?
zlinChrisGo: `grep Using\ config /var/log/Xorg.0.log`
MeowCatswhats the add and remove program for gnome called? (the one that lets you uninstall some of the built in apps)
zlintecnico: not always.
deitarionWhat's the easiest way to test a microphone? I have one that doesn't seem to want to work.
ChrisGozlin nothing
marienzMeowCats: emerge :)
deitarionIt's brand new, so I need to check whether the problem lies in my sound card's hardware (The Mic has a stereo plug) or software.
marienzMeowCats: specifically, unmerge gnome, emerge gnome-light, then unmerge the bits of gnome you don't use and add the bits you do use to world until emerge -vp --depclean is empty.
MeowCatsmarienz, but I'm talking about gnome specific apps, like if I want to remove it's movie player
marienzMeowCats: I am too :)
marcin_antis this possible to run emerge in the way that could allow running emerge on remote host in ssh session and then disconnect but emerge should run and finish it's job?
zlinChrisGo: maybe you don't have a config then. it falls back to some default it there is no conf I think.
marienzMeowCats: the ebuild you get from "emerge gnome" doesn't actually install any files.
