tilgoviyeah, really what it is is that I have friends that run ftp servers on their windows boxes and I'm tired of making my friends get another program just to get to my server
SimAtWorktilgovi: i'm guessing you're transfering files the riaa and mpaa wouldn't like. i'd recommend you use sftp and let your friends realize the risk they're taking.
Adlaiif they want to get to your server, they can get the program they need
mistik1Logix102: If you on x86 you can use something like ddcxinfo-knoppix to get your monitor sync rates
AdlaiI see no reason you shouldn't use sftp
tilgoviSimAtWork: I don't post the info for my server anywhere. It's a tight group of friends.
SimAtWorktilgovi: doesn't help much if your isp can read your traffic
n0kiai would use http instead then they can get files with their browsers
mistik1tilgovi: all the more reason for sftp
ChrisGoHow do you fix xdm kicking in at boot and getting monitor resolution error? can the default res be set somehwere?
SimAtWorktilgovi: not to mention anyone on your friends isp that are receiving the dta, and everyone in between. plus if you have cable chances are your neighbours can see your traffic.
ChrisGo: xorg.conf
mistik1If they cant use Winscp then they would have the same problem with ftp
mjmany body able to tell me a good util to detect memory leaks and show which processes are hogging ram?
besides ps
mistik1top
jzono1mjm: there's no good way to tell
Adlaimjm, top
or ps with some fancy grep
mjmAdlai: top doesn't detect mem leaks
LZZhi, i put vesa in make.conf and in the xorg.conf but startx stil try to use radeon driver... where i have to change it?
Adlaino, it doesn't
but it might
mjmAdlai: you knwo of anything to do that?
Adlaiif you happen to catch it at the right time
no, I don't
mjmAdlai: at the right time? i dont follow
Adlaiwell, if you happen to see that one of the processes top is watching is eating up mounds and mounds of ram, then you've found it
RattyHave any of you guys run into this issue? I have removed the package and have looked for its dependencies, but none are found... I have also emerge ant-core succesfully also : [blocks B ] <dev-java/ant-tasks-1.7.0 (is blocking dev-java/ant-core-1.7.0)
the_iszhi all. anyone knows a way to emerge the stable gtk+ without cups?
Adlaithe_isz, maybe USE flags?
the_iszsadly not
Adlaidunno then
romanosanyone here from germany?
mjmAdlai: hm, good idea. that the best way you know how?
Adlaino, but there would be in #gentoo.de
rhysim getting an error. "Error dhcpstart; ioctl SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory." when i reboot into my systtem i can get an address
Adlairather, there might be
