rhyskk. if it doesnt i will blame you and put a curse of sexual impotence on you and all your family. ok?
maikolTuX_BuBling: i know. thats why i need to uninstall xmms.
AllenJBmaikol: "emerge -C <package>" will work for any installed package, even if it's not in the tree any more.
Mercestesrhys: omg..please do. we have this strange genetic curse of never satiable flaming nymphomania.
TuX_BuBlingoh i read install :)
Mercestesrhys: last guy I ticked off....>.>
AllenJBmaikol: Portage keeps a local copy of all the information it needs to uninstall packages
tomboyare circular dependencies to be considered a bug in the ebuilds?
zlintomboy: depends
rhyswhoa. gentoo + woman? will you marry me?
tomboyzlin: on what? :-D
uplinkedtomboy: i like to think of them as a bug that gets passed off as a feature, actually :)
maikolAllenJB: tahtnks, dont know why id ditn just try that
Mercesteswoman...where?
tomboyuplinked: mhmmm so no report to bugzilla?
rhysmercestes, oh. you said last guy. oh well.
actionMercestes ticks off plenty of guys
Mercestesticks off plenty of guys
Brennani unmerged wget so now i cant merge anything, i tried putting the wget file it wants to remerge wget into the /files part of its directory in portage, but its not taking it, how do I get it to use the file instead of trying to download it
zlintomboy: on whether there is a simple solution that doesn't drop features. like changing keywords to keep it in sync with related packages..
uplinkedtomboy: don't ask me, i'm just a smartass. plenty of people here will have better answers for you if you tell them which packages it is :)
RamblurrBrennan: download the file by hand
bit`Brennan, put it in /usr/portage/distfiles
RamblurrBrennan: and put it in /usr/portage/distfiles/
Brennanthanks
tomboyzlin, tomboy, ok, it installs fine with paludis, i think i'll leave it as it is ;)
grrr
zlintomboy: in many cases it's more a matter of getting a better resolver which the ebuild cannot fix..
tomboyzlin, uplinked
zlintomboy: if you actually want to know you'll have to present the case..
tomboyzlin: resolver? what you mean by that?
zlin: it's about beryl.
zlin: i followed this guide http://wiki.gentoo-xeffects.org/Beryl and when i emerge beryl i get a circular dep, which is resolved easily
Mercestesok guys, real question.
zlintomboy: a better resolver could automatically work around circular deps by emerging the same packages more than once with differing use settings.
Mercesteshttp://pastebin.ca/366778 I just ran a emerge --sync and emerge portage and I got this error. emerge --resume says nothign to do. What did I break?
Marco3I have emerged my packages with default desktop profile, thus using kde and gnome use flags for packages.. If I emerge world with -kde and -gnome, will the previous deps be removed, that was compiled earlier with kde and gnome?
zlintomboy: paludis actually has a better resolver (than the one currently in portage). I'm not sure how much better though.
