PeterFAseren, thanks, emerge -P yeilded a huge volume of stuff. I'll of course make sure my system is fine with revdep-rebuild and emerge -Du world
loki_valPeterFA: Just guessing: does emerge --depclean -p spit out anything?
imbezoli built a gentoo server system.. tar'ed it up, extracted it onto the second server, and booted the second server
PeterFAloki_val, not anymore.
loki_val, I did it a while ago.
serenPeterFA: yes -P will remove all unused/slotted packages afik
ChrisGowhy when i create a nologin file in /etc and reboot its gets removed?
imbezolon the second server it calls the ethernet cards eth2 and eth3 for some reason.. ideas? is there MAC address tracking done somewhere?
PeterFAloki_val, it knocked off a good 15% of space
ryan_I'm trying to build a new kernel, and for some reason after I make && make modules_install, there's a at least a handful of modules I selected in the kernel config that aren't being made/installed and I don't know why. Any thoughts?
loki_valPeterFA: emerge -P is dangerous. Be very careful when you use it.
PeterFAKeep in mind I'm willing to take risks at the moment.
serenryan_: make moduules ?
modules
ryan_seren, make does that already as far as I know, but yes, I've tried manually doing that also
timmucassiopea: 2006.0 and 2006.1 are different, yes, as seren said
marienzPeterFA: emerge -P with no package specified breaks your system by removing most versions of autoconf and automake
serenloki_val: PeterFA emerge -P shouldnt be used as emerge -P world, to emerge -P lackagename
d/to/do
marienzPeterFA: use depclean and use -P with specific packages (like kernel sources) you want to prune.
inzanezhm...
PeterFAmarienz, um... too late.
hehe
timmucassiopea: 2006.0 had sata support, i'm rather sure of that...
marienzbleh.
serenctrl+c
marienzPeterFA: emerge -va autoconf-wrapper automake-wrapper, iirc that will pull in all versions of auto* again.
PeterFAI'm going to emerge -Du anyways.
cassiopeak, thanx timmu
ChrisGowhy when i create a nologin file in /etc and reboot its gets removed?
timmucassiopea: if it doesn't work, at least you can curse me :P
serenPeterFA: well lets hope the toolchain didnt get fubared
marienzChrisGo: /etc/init.d/rmnologin
inzaneztimmu: vmstat actually shows that cache is taking up 1.8 Gb...:/
cassiopeatimmu, no, then I'm gonna send a letter bomb to microsoft for screwing up my mbr in the first place

nermalsanyone happen to know when clamav is set to be updated in portage?
marienzimbezol: yes.
timmuinzanez: cache shouldn't be dragging system down... do you have swap configured?
imbezolmarienz: where's it store that info?
