|FunnyMan3595||Ridley: He's got a core 2.|
|Dr-Hfuhruhurr||timmu, It does not allow you to make exceptions for a single vhost|
|mechtn||i dont have to set the floating framepoint etc?|
|zerrez-diku||Drakonen, sure does! :)|
|mechtn||or special use flags for sse etc?|
|Ridley||mechtn: as FunnyMan3595 is pointing out, I made a mistake, you've got a core 2 duo, not a core duo. Go with nocona|
|FunnyMan3595||mechtn: I'd go with nocona, since that's Intel's recommendation. Never know what bugs might creep up on you if you don't pay attention to them.|
|timmu||Dr-Hfuhruhurr: ah, ok. symlink time indeed :)|
|Dr-Hfuhruhurr||timmu, Which if you think about it, is broken as soon as you wish to install into a virtual homedir vhost e.g. http://www.mydomain.com/~user|
|mechtn||all the rest of it is a blur..|
CFLAGS="-march=prescott -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
personally I use -O3 with no problems.
|mechtn||i'm reading it.. trying to paste somethign to make sure i get the right stuff|
CFLAGS="-march=nocona -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
|Lenaud01-Coding||whats a good dvd back up app for linux to make them into iso?|
|mechtn||whats the -03 refer to? whats -pipe mean? what about fomit frame?|
|timmu||Dr-Hfuhruhurr: under ~user scheme, usually users take care of their stuff by themselves..|
|zerrez-diku||is there a channel for gentoo-sources?|
|mechtn||do i need any additional thinsg added lile cflags.. "-mmmx -msse -msse2 -msse3 -Os -pipe "|
|Dr-Hfuhruhurr||timmu, So what happens when a user tries to run webapp-config to install a package?|
|timmu||Dr-Hfuhruhurr: more like, tar & etc...|
|Dr-Hfuhruhurr||timmu, It looks in /etc and tries to install into the system default location in /var/www|
|loki_val||zerrez-diku: What version of gentoo-sources are you running?|
|FunnyMan3595||mechtn: -O2 / -O3 are optimization levels.|
|timmu||Dr-Hfuhruhurr: i've never run across that situation :)|
|Dr-Hfuhruhurr||timmu, That is just plain wrong. The whole purpose of webapp-config is to make it easy to upgrade. The master copies are in /usr/share byt the way, so the user can manually copy them from there|
|FunnyMan3595||mechtn: -O3 tries to sacrifice executable size for runtime speed. It's debatable how much of an improvement this gives, and it makes for larger programs and longer compiles.|
|Dr-Hfuhruhurr||timmu, Basically, it is currently not fully functional|
|FunnyMan3595||mechtn: It also (rarely) can introduce bugs to a program.|
|loki_val||zerrez-diku: http://www-gatago.com/linux/kernel/40681070.html <--- Indicates problem with HIGMEM, which IIRC is an option to allow >4GB of ram. Do you have this? Do you need this?|
|mechtn||FunnyMan, ok so where does the -j3 come into play?|
not the same as -03 ?
|slaq||anyone here have a clue about interrupts? i'm wondering why /proc/interrupts reports only 117 timer interrupts for CPU0 but 1082187901 for CPU1 in my dual xeon box.. should i worry that it's not properly utilized?|
