kojiroand then <booM>
mechtnhehe.. i want to use -march=core2
says i can.. BUT...
Ridleylucky man... I've installed Gentoo on my girlfriend's laptop, with a Core Duo, and I can see GCC compiling outputs twice at a time... it's gorgeous
mechtnits pre-alpha gcc 4.3 is
andreikojiro?
kojiroAndrei?
DrChandraAndrei: Gotta be root. It's part of portage.
Dr-Hfuhruhurrtimmu, Nope. All my vhosts are in /var/www except one. Looks I will need a symlink to fool it
andreii am root
kojiroAndrei: emerge -n gentoolkit
loki_valAndrei: gentoolkit. emerge. nuff said
mechtnRidley, lets hope i set my system up correctly so that acctually works :P
kojiroloki_val: it took you 1.5 times longer to say it that way :P ;)
loki_valkojiro: in a haste. Doing dishes. Typing with one hand.
mechtnwhy should i use prescott over nocona
Ridleymechtn: there's actually nothing to set, except for that MAKEOPTS (and that -march=prescott if you like)
kojiroloki_val: impressive. obi wan. taught you. did a good job.
timmuDr-Hfuhruhurr: what did you mean exactly? perhaps this is related to your webserver config?
zerrez-dikuonce in a while my system halts upon boot, complaining about a kernel bug.
FunnyMan3595mechtn: Intel says nocona is better, but some of the discussions thing that prescott is faster.
zerrez-dikuit just happend again, so i noted the file and line
mechtnhrm.. i'll be torn between the two
crap
i had options
FunnyMan3595mechtn: So says http://gentoo-wiki.com/Safe_Cflags#Intel_Core_2_Solo.2FDuo.2FQuad_.28Allendale.2C_Conroe.2C_Merom.2C_Kentsfield.29_and_Xeon_51xx.2F53xx_.28Woodcrest.2C_Clovertown.29
mechtnhehe
zerrez-dikuarch/i386/mm/highmem.c:42
Ridleymechtn: prescott, on my girlfriend's T2300, works like a charm
and works damn fast
zeke2007I never used firewalls and had no problems with security. But now my ISP switched to PPPoE from PPTP and pppoe-setup asks for firewall options. Is there something special in PPPoE that makes firewalling necessary? Is it safe not to use firewall with PPPoE connections?
zerrez-dikuanyone knows whether it is usually a real bug, or just incorrect settings?
FunnyMan3595Ridley: Isn't that a Core [1] Duo, though?
timmuDr-Hfuhruhurr: webapp config makes it possible to change where the portage installs packages, afaik... but it you want apache(or whatever) to serve them from another location, this has to be tuned in webserver config?
Dr-Hfuhruhurrtimmu, Just what I said. One of my vhosts is NOT in /var/www, and webapp-config keeps creating a dir for it in /var/www, rather than installing into the right place. I would have hoped that it could check the apache vhosts to see where it should be installing, bu that would be too much to expect
RidleyFunnyMan3595: yes, I've missed something?
zlin? gentoolkit
Drakonenmarch=prescott works fine on a core duo too!
jeeveshttp://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoolkit.xml
Ridleyohhhhhhhh
