kojiroAndrei: are you sure cups is on?
wereHamsteris 'char' guaranteed to be always 8 bit?
Solifugus`VL: lines are: root (hd0,1) and kernel /vmlinuz root=/dev/sda3
bluerabbitsleek, well I move like 30 GB per day from samba to other clients and never had issues with it
simcop2387Robstafarian: already did the fix_libtool.sh stuff for that, things run fine so far, gonna do the revdep-rebuild after i rebuild the fuse, lirc, nvidia-drivers and ivtv
andreiyup emerge --info says so
wereHamster.. always exactly 8 bit, no more, no less?
Robstafariansimcop2387: I'm sorry I can't offer any advice for the procedure you're about to go through, I used Guenther Brunthaler's script for my massive update
kojiroleftStanding: USE="-*" emerge -p graphviz -- does that give any errors?
`VLSolifugus: so, why do you think that your kernel wants to boot other nfs? how does it look like?
Qbi-JensI'm trying to migrate to paludis. 'paludis -pi world' gives me an error. That '-MERGING-ghc-bin' isn't a valid package name. Where does this package come from and could I delete /var/db/pkg/dev-lang/-MERGING-ghc-bin without destroying parts of my system?
simcop2387Robstafarian: hmm didn't know about that, i'll check it out in case i want to do it again soon (though i'll probably do it much more frequently than ever 12 months, yesh i had alot of configuration things to sort out :))
leftStandingkojiro: yeah, same error message
kojiroleftStanding: pastebin emerge -uDNpvt world please
W8TAHhi folks - i have a package (kvirc) that is installed from a live ebuild (one that gets its source from svn) i am told there is a new commit in svn, and i need to update, i tried emerge -uav kvirc and got nothing to update - -how is the appropriate way to update that?
kojiroQbi-Jens: you'd have to ask in #paludis
Robstafariansimcop2387: you might want to check it out ASAP, it might end up saving you a hell of a lot of trouble at this point
Qbi-Jenskojiro: thx
andreiso, what now
kojiro
kojiroAndrei: nothing, your system is up to date and your circular deps are resolved. you can etc-update && revdep-rebuild if you want
simcop2387Robstafarian: will do, everything so far though hasn't been to hard (other than deciding to finally ditch gnome midway through the -u world, simply because i couldn't get the dang ALL_LINGUAS thing fixed yet)
ithiumsorry to ask again... I'm having problems with mke2fs. For some reason it insists on using all of my available RAM. I have 4Gb RAM and it is able to make filesystems but watching top i can see it all being used up... then, when I boot as a Xen dom0 and limit my RAM to 256Mb, mke2fs quickly uses it all up and causes the system to pretty much crash - "out of memory" warnings, programs being killed with a vengeance, that kinda thing. And mke2fs won't
the_iszkojiro: nopaste /var/log/Xorg.0.log gave me this output: http://rafb.net/p/XyBd8d43.html
`VLithium: how big is partition? does problem exists only with Xen ?
tzaeruI reinstalled whole system and now I started to get background crackle every time audio device is taken to use.. Which is rather annoying, because some games, such as Morrowind which I play through Cedega, stop using audio device and then take it back every time it changes music file played.. and it changes a lot in Morrowind.. >.<
andreietc-update displayed 27 files and now says please select a file to edit
ithiumVL : no, the problems exist both on my clean non-Xen setup and my Xen setup. in both cases it uses up all the RAM - it is only successful if I have the full 4Gb available and not limited. The partition is only 15Gb.
Robstafariansimcop2387: heh, I'm telling you this because it doesn't get hard until you realize that your system is b0rked 8?}
the_iszAndrei: if you never edited one of those files etc-update shows you, you can say "-5" (without the quotes) to have etc-update merge the config files for you
kojiromzbot: teach ithium about repost
mzbotithium: If nobody responds to your question in a channel as busy as #gentoo you should rephrase the question. Maybe the original question doesn't quite make sense, or maybe it's too long to simply scan and reply. Whatever the reason is, just reposting the same question will probably get you the same answer (no answer).
`VLithium: sounds strange... possibly that`s bug in either mke2fs or kernel? i`d try to contact mke2fs developers
kojirobleh, lag--
andreithe_isz: but i cant see the first 9 of them anymore cos they dont fit on the display!
ithiumkojiro: sorry, but in a channel as big as gentoo it's also easy to not notice messages slip by :o)
kojiroithium: and then there's lag :)
ithiumkojiro: indeed ;o)
simcop2387Robstafarian: i made sure throught the whole thing that all the system utilities and things that i needed were always linked properly :) python, and everything in /bin and /sbin are all perfectly fine :)
the_iszAndrei: have you tried using Shift+PgUp?
