the_iszcould someone help me please? i get "Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server" and "Xlib: No protocol specified" everytime i try to start an x session...
[GNU]OrderAnd how come it wants to downgrade from xfce 4.4 to xfce 4.2.3 even when I use ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86"
DrChandrakojiro: teach me about why
kojiroDrChandra: why not?
Mercestesyea, true.
roRischow do I go about read only mounting an NTFS partition?
andreikojiro: does this look ok to you? http://rafb.net/p/tQBtSS29.html

kojiromzbot: teach roRisc about paste
mzbotroRisc: Use http://rafb.net/paste or emerge nopaste. Pasting in #gentoo itself clutters the chat and will get you kicked by Naamah. Use the aforementioned site and hand us the URL so we can check it out.
adeelncan anyone here point me to a good tutorial for openssl? specifically making your own CA, generating CSR's and signing them using your own ca?
[GNU]Order: your ACCEPT keywords is off...it's ~x86
kojiroAndrei: I don't see anything wrong with it
[GNU]Order: in any case, don't use ACCEPT_KEYWORDS. use package.keywords
[GNU]Orderadeeln: Sorry, that was a mistype here, I did use ~x86.
adeelnthe_isz: double check that you can get X to work first, by just running X and not startx
Zaba_umm
[GNU]Orderkojiro: that was only a test with -p so I wouldn't have to enter all teh packages in package.keyword.
Zaba_=/=/=/
the_iszcould someone help me please? i get "Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server" and "Xlib: No protocol specified" everytime i try to start an x session
kojiroZaba_: does having three sad faces make your sadness more emphatic?
danbeckthe_isz: Is this a remote connection?
the_iszno, it's local
kojirothe_isz: ATI, nvidia, or something else?
the_isznvidia. xdm starts normally and the nvidia drivers get loaded
kojirothe_isz: oh, so x itself is running
the_iszthe problem occurs when trying to log in
[GNU]Order[blocks B ] xfce-extra/xfce4-toys (is blocking xfce-base/libxfce4util-4.4.0-r1)
--- Couldn't find 'xfce4-toys' to unmerge.
the_iszyes, sorry if i didn't say that clearly
kojiro[GNU]Order: it's probably a block being pulled in by something
[GNU]Order: mask it and see what complains
[GNU]Orderthat's the main problem. I can't emerge xfce because of the xfce blocks but I have nearly everything xfce removed now.
kojiro: mask which, toys?
Zaba_kojiro, yeah cause i'm sad sad sad sad :P
kojiro[GNU]Order: yes
the_isz: hmm, I dunno :/ what if you kill xdm and do startx?
the_iszi tried that already. poor thing is: that doesnt change anything. x gets started and as soon as the window manager (fluxbox in my case) comes up it crashes and causes the given error
