NY Lost Funds

larrythecowI did do lspci before, I didn't know which bit of it to add to modules though.
DrChandralarrythecow: Build a kernel, and install it as the second kernel on your system. If it doesn't boot, the error messages should tell you what's missing. Reboot to the old kernel, and try again.
cassiopealarrythecow, thank you for the advice, but I couldn't really care less about what internet I'm using right now, I just want to boot into linux now
positronI just wanted to know why people can't use my ftp or ssh server: http://img364.imageshack.us/my.php?image=scft7.png
sylv1Hello, my laptop screen remains off after I close it and reopen it. Is therre anything to configure in the kernel to reenable the screen after I reopen it?
larrythecowcassiopea; yeah, sorry but you'll have to waste your money on crappy old damn small.
Drakonensylv1: pressed a key?
sylv1Drakonen: doesn't work
drbombay[lap]hello all, is there away to find out why a package is being called in?
antarusdrbombay[lap]: --tree
larrythecowDrChandra: What if someone was to add NO modules to genkernel and then just boot it and find out what was needed?
positronAnyone?
larrythecowI'm still LEARNING about genkernel and compiling, I'm actually leaning towards compiling but I want to learn them both anyway.
drbombay[lap]antarus, emerge --tree gtk, ?
FunnyMan3595I've got a point in my early/mid boot where it pauses for several seconds for no apparent reason: http://gentoo.pastebin.ca/366528 Any ideas what's going on and how I could speed it up?
DrChandralarrythecow: It's a lot easier to work on a running system and figure out what subset of drivers it's using, and repeatedly guess at what's missing from a non-booting system.
gen64tomboy: what is the next step?
tomboygen64: well, try if eog works now
fietronicWhy isn't sabayon listed here? http://larrythecow.com/?cat=39
gen64tomboy: it doesn't
DrChandralarrythecow: This is why I suggested lshw. It lists the driver that is supporting the hardware, if it can be determined.
tomboygen64: well, does it load ANY pictures at all?
Zaba_guys. if i got a .pcf font, how do i make xterm use it?
gen64tomboy: yes it does. all except jpeg/jpg
larrythecowDrChandra: Alright, I don't quite understand though how to know the module names. I mean searching for the xxxxxxx driver names, all of them, would take ages.
oooh, lshw DOES? thanks.
tomboygen64: did you make any upgrades recently?
larrythecowemerging lshw now..
gen64tomboy: no, just a sync
zlinAndrei: I don't think there are any open source providers for virtual/jre but any provider will do, yes.
positronantarus?
tomboymhmmm
DrChandralarrythecow: lshw | less, and search for "driver=".
tomboytry emerge eog again - else, i'm at a loss, sorry.
gen64:
larrythecowcool.
tomboygen64: anything else i'm afraid you need a dev for :(
andreizlin: my question was if i install a different provide other that sun, what happens to the java use flag, which java does it use?
FunnyMan3595It looks like it's doing mouse setup, and I can't figure out why it'd take that long.
andreizlin: the one i installed or the first one in the portage tree
