hadeesuplinked, did you move over the config file?
iVanbut since your comment I got that doubt
:)
uplinkedhadees, yep
gnychisdrazak: nope i don't :\
edoardo|officekojiro, emerge -auvDN system?
iVanonly /boot is mounted
edoardo|officekojiro, but with distcc. i mean come on without distcc it could take eleven hours
larrythecowRidley: Well I've never had that problem, but you DO need to initialise dbus. I forgot how though. I think it is something like /etc/rd.
hadeesuplinked, and make menuconfig doesn't find it? how do you know that?
zlinedoardo|office: try it.
larrythecowoops; I meant /etc/rc.d/messagebus restart
iVandrazak, only /boot is mounted and I cding into the /mnt/gentoo
uplinkedhadees, genkernel --menuconfig all wasn't showing any of my old options checked, but as atom suggested, i think make oldconfig is all i'm forgetting
hadeesuplinked, what could be happening is that some of the modules changed names or something and your config couldn't find the right options
Ridleylarrythecow: it's /etc/init.d/dbus start
larrythecow: and I've done it.
larrythecowwell there you g.. oh.
hadeesuplinked, you should be able to tell that if you close menuconfig
larrythecowNo clue. Checked in processes to see if you've got it running?
maybe you should try restarting it.
iVandrazak, I did ran the command grub-install --root-directory=/boot /dev/hdb since GRUB was installed on hdb
uplinkedhadees, i didn't look at the whole set of kernel options, but it was ALL of the networking options for IPTables that had gone un-checked. I'll let you know how it works after this make oldconfig is done
Marco3Has anyone tried distclean ? does it free up alot of space?
drazakivan: manually install grub
larrythecowIf I use genkernel, do I have to detect hardware that does not vary everytime I boot?
Ridleylarrythecow: I try checking a bit now
DrChandraMarco3: I use it
iVandrazak, OK thank you
edoardo|officekojiro, zlin, any way to write an emerge session somewhere? like if i do emerge --resume it'll start off where it left, but if i do emerge -auvDN it won't no more
larrythecowRidley: yeah, well because otherwise I can't help you. I haven't even installed gentoo yet.
Marco3DrChandra, does it free up alot of space?
larrythecowI guess noone will help me.
andreikojiro: now it seems to be installing the new gcc
SkunkyFonelarrythecow: don't use genkernel if you know how to compile your kernel yourself.
DrChandraMarco3: That depends on your emerge history. It reduces the package to only those that support installed packages. It could free up a lot.
Marco3: There is also "eclean packages".
Marco3DrChandra, I've done eclean-dist it freed up 170kb, lol
larrythecowSkunkyFone: Why? But genkernel looks so much easier. Is it just for safety, to ensure you don't get it wrong, that you compile it yourself?
SkunkyFone: are there any real underlying differences?
