NY Lost Funds

EvilAlexhi i need some help: after updating udev && uninstalling caldplug i cant access internet any more. any advice would be welcome
atomuberpinguin: that's about as compatible as you can get.
uberpinguinatom: hm. ok, when you say GRUB doesn't work - what specifically is happening? Include any error messages.
atomuberpinguin: no error messages. The cursor moves down for two lines and then for another 3, and that's it. it gets stuck there.
uberpinguin: (the line count might be a bit off, it's hard to see when no text is being echoed)
uberpinguinatom: but it's fine with SMART disabled?
zlinEvilAlex: do you know what nic/driver you use to connect to the internet?
phliteexit
atomuberpinguin: grub, yes. It starts the kernel on /boot as well, but then the kernel panics (vfs not syncing) but that's to be expected, it doesn't have the chipset driver built in
Damm_sounds like something fuzzy with the SMART support
it's not like SMART is that great anywho
uberpinguinhm; I have no idea why SMART would be interfering, but I have to go - appointment to keep (as well as my job ;P)
EvilAlexzlin- i am new to this i have broadcome 57xx and roter
atomuberpinguin: i'll miss your :)
you*
kojiroatom: do you have fast POST enabled, or something in the BIOS?
some kinda turbo POST
atomkojiro: oh, the man himself. Don't think so, but i'll check.
actionkojiro looks around for the man

Solifuguswhat package do i need to get lspci ??
kojiroSolifugus: pciutils
Ridleyuhm... is there somewhere in the kernel the "dbus" option to include? I'm having trouble with kpowersave that doesn't recognize the dbus daemon which is running, and maybe I've something built in the kernel which conflicts...
Solifuguskojiro: tanks.
atomkojiro: i'll be right back with the info. an idea where to look would be welcome though.
kojiroatom: in the BIOS settings
atom: turn off anything designed to speed through the POST
atomkojiro: i meant the section :). i'll sniff it out if it's there.
brb
actionkojiro shrugs
kojiroshrugs

fietronicthe -O# in cflags is how many compiles to run at once?
actionkojiro nods
kojironods
fietronic: no, that's the -j# in MAKEOPTS
fietronicOh
kojirofietronic: the -O in CFLAGS is levels of optimizations
fietronicThanks
avaricen_fietronic, once.
