ZaerathI run Gentoo on a n HP DV 9000Z laptop, and it has multimedia buttons at the top. Would anyone know if it is possible to get them to work? If so, how?
zentionmegadeth: I am getting a little shocked at what I can do in /sbin anyhow as a normal user
Megadethzention: what do you mean
Sulo_Seppahow do I fix make??
MegadethZaerath: what kind of multimedia buttons, if they are the HP Quickplay ones then no
corranzention: you cannot actually change anything
zentionmegadeth: well really only root should be allowed
corranzention: nah
CharlieSuis there a way to emerge a package again just to get the doc files for /usr/share/doc ?? I've deleted the docs and want to know how to get them back
corranzention: given proper permissions you cannot do anything harmful
Zaerathmegadeth: Well, there is a Quickplay button, but I do not care about it. I mean the other buttons; does what you said cover all of those, they're all considered Quickplay buttons?
zentioncorran: oh well let any user run fsck
Sulo_Seppawhat is wrong with make? stupid fucking gentoo
corranzention: they cannot access the devices
Megadethzention: well yeah that is why i'm shcoekd as to how i could shutdown and such as a normal user
corranzention: unless they are given access to the device files
WildCard4Yo
[R]corran: alsa 1.0.14rc1 vs 1.0.13
corran: i'm sure its just in my head though
Whoke-Chain>_<
corran[R]: maybe, but it may not be
MegadethZaerath: they are all quickplay atleast from what i know, i have an HP Dv6000 laptop and if i click on say the play button the quiclypay menu pops up
corran[R]: do not discount driver improvement
[R]lol
Zaerathmegadeth: Ah, not with me... Hm, I wish I could get them working, though.
PhantmShadocan anyone tell me what the root password on the gentoo livecd is?
corranmegadeth: ~>shutdown -h now \n shutdown: you must be root to do that!
[R]corran: well i checked the diff and theres nothing thats popping out at me really
jselectPhantmShado: I believe it's blank
corran[R]: it may be in your head or a subtle change
[R]: or your decoder was improved :P
jselectPhantmShado: you just need to "sudo su" if you're just using "su"
PhantmShadoah, thanks
corranPhantmShado: or sudo -s
jselect: sudo -s will give you a root shell
[R]corran: i'm just happy that the sound is working... this is my 3rd attempt at trying 2.6.20 and both previous times i was having sound issues
zentioncorran: yeah I suppose so, quite useful for a few things as well
actioncorran hasn't had sound problems in linux for 5 years
