nvzcydork: I already suggested using a shell and an editor
noark: blah
jelly-homea full screen editor!
nvznoark: go troll stupid unintersting news somewhere else
cydorknvz: yeah i know i still think if he doesn't know the rules he should not touch iptables :P
liablehrm, but a c creates a new window in the first screen
Super_Ca1_Froghi - i was disconnected - can somebody have a look at my control file for a deb im trying to build: http://rafb.net/p/eZrbxx62.html - the error im getting is dpkg-checkbuilddeps: error: source paragraph in control info file is missing Source line
nvzcydork: heh
noarknvz: it is stupid mfsob like you that will be the cause of debian's demise, if it ever happen.
nvzliable: you're nuts change the damn esc char on one of those
jelly-homeliable: what are you trying to do anyway? " ctrl-a a " sends ctrl-a down
cydorknoark: ubuntu is off-topic here. and this is a support channel.
liablenvz: i like to drive myself crazy, its kinda a hobby of mine :)
nvznoark: haha.. you are dumb. do you even realize the group of people you are talking to?
xandnoark: no, ubuntu would cease to exist without debian :P
noarkcydork: STFU.
nvznoark: this isnt some secret debian decision making group here.. we are humble users supporting other users
noarkxand: any reason why ubuntu is chosen over debian by dell?
neoconhow can I change the default runlevel so that next time I boot the system X doesn't start automatically ? I edited /etc/inittab and changed from '2' to '3' but nothing happened really
formorermoney
neocon: you can't
xandbecause it's n00b-friendly?
formorerneocon: debian does not control X via runlevel
abrotman!nodm
dpkgDebian does not use a specific runlevel for graphical display managers by default. Just remove the dm package(s) with "apt-get remove xdm kdm wdm login.app gdm pdm". "update-rc.d -f xdm remove" and friends will also disable the dm until a package update is installed and the runlevel symlinks are restored.. NEWSFLASH! echo "false" >/etc/X11/default-display-manager, or a temporary solution is to hit ctl-alt-fN to get to a console
xandand it's backed by a commercial company
cydorkSuper_Ca1_Frog: you need to read /msg dpkg nm guide
nvznoark: and debian is the leading non-commercial distro out there and ubuntu is thriving on debian's progress but taking it in different directions, we dont care
liablejelly-home: second box on the lan running ssh. i need to have screen running on it
neoconformorer: what if I uninstall X ?
Yggdrasilhello, can somone point me in the right direction regarding background images for my virtual terminals
formorerneocon: then you don't have X anymore...
liablejelly-home: and thus i need to run screen from within screen on the first box
jelly-homeliable: so change the escape character on one of the screens.
liable: screen -e^Bb
liablejelly-home: cant be done otherwise?
abrotmannoark: please go ask Dell or #ubuntu .. this channel is not for discussion that topic
noarknvz: after dell put ubuntu in its PCs, ubuntu will be the leading non-comm distro.
nvznoark: learn a thing or two about how the free world works, then learn about irc nettiquitte and come back. Read "Free For All" by Peter Wayner it'll get you all excited about the "big war" of software giants
jelly-homeliable: sure it can. Like I said, "ctrl-a a" sends ctrl-a to the app in screen
