Dewisdadsd: so why didn't the other larger drives fail?
xoz_suppaman: you have good signal but as long as you havent configured the right key/wpa, you will not get acknowledgement from your AP
Vasisthasdadsd: you're sure you've got all the jumpers set up properly?
suppamanxoz_: I my interfaces file I have the following line : up /sbin/iwconfig eth21 essid FON_PRIVATE key XXXXXXXXXX

sdadsdi don't know dewi but i can try with other hdd and the error is same
xoz_suppaman: google wpa supplicant. if you use wep key, you can do that
suppamanxoz_: they key is actually right, so the point is that I'm not providing it correctly to iwconfig
xoz_suppaman: it is wep key maybe, not wpa key
suppamanxoz_: I think this device is locked wpa but I'm not sure, I'm gonna google now
AzarDewi: ~g matches packages which are not installed, or which were automatically installed and are not depended upon by any installed package :)
xoz_suppaman: apt-get install wpasupplicant
acuVasistha: I found it - the html file has the hyperlinks towards CAPITAL letters - while the *.wmv had small letter - I think for Windows that is not a problem - however for linux it does not work
suppamanxoz_: ok but from what I can see iwconfig doesn't have separate options for wpa or wep
VasisthaAcu: yes, that would be an incompatibility
xoz_suppaman: http://wiki.debian.org/WPA
dreamilhello
misreckoningis there a way to specify WEP passphrase in Etch with gnome-network manager?
dreamilcan someone tell me, how to convert i386 deb to amd64?
xoz_suppaman: it has its own config for the key
suppaman: /etc/wpasupplicant.conf
suppaman: in etch, it is also configured in /etc/network/interfaces
suppaman: that debian wiki is well-written. just follow the steps there.
suppamanthanks
xoz_suppaman: wireless-tools is the package, no longer wpasupplicant
suppamanI have wireless-tools already installed
acuVasistha: thanks anyhow - there is a saying that what a stupid can do - cannot be undone by 10 geniuses - here is just amatorim " a la Windows"
suppamanit provides iwconfig
btw I obviously cannot install other packages atm :-)
xoz_suppaman: http://svn.debian.org/wsvn/pkg-wpa/wpasupplicant/trunk/debian/README.modes?op=file&rev=0&sc=0
