xandjamey-uk: are you using ubuntu?
markybobjamey-uk: this is not #ubuntu. read the topic. go to #ubuntu
liablejamey-uk: the people in #ubuntu can help
jamey-ukthey don't though!
markybobwe dont care
Azarjamey-uk: we dont have those packages man
you asking in the wind
xand!based on debian
dpkgYou're not running Debian, but a distribution that uses the same package management system, but not the same packages. You can't use packages from Debian with Ubuntu, or packages from Mepis with Knoppix. That is why we cannot help you, you will need to visit the IRC channels of the respective distributions. See <Ubuntu> <Knoppix> <Kanotix> <Mepis>
jamey-ukgotcha np
VasisthaAzar: thankfully, my old lappy runs pretty cool, so I don't worry too much about it. But I get overheated myself :P
liableapplying liberal amounts of beer usually helps
Azaryah no lappy here, never had one I allways thought of one as of a toy
haha
beer... haven't had one in 2 months
liablemy laptop kicks my servers ass
VasisthaAzar: it's so nice. on some hot days it'll be bearable to sit outside in the shade, thanks to the fresh air, and I can take my lappy out there and work, instead of just lying on the floor
Azarliable: everytime I hear about laptops, notebooks, wifi, I get the picture of a remote controlled toy running on battery and dying pretty fast..
ronr:) figured it out (just added exit 0 to /usr/sbin/update-alternatives to keep it from complaining)
Vasisthaand then there are the beautiful gorgeous days, where I just want to be outside anyway ... I'll run an extension cord into the house so I have plenty of power :D
sinizzlok, i can now again connect to my selfmade access point with my windows notebook. but still my macbook keeps losing the connection every two seconds.... it diesnt have that issue with other access points....
Azarit's not only the PC heating up.. the router too... I had one router dying of heat...
fireba11vorsprung: why dsa ?
sinizzlim going to boot my macbook with an ubuntu cd to see if it has that issue under ubuntu too
VasisthaAzar: I actually should be concerned about that. we keep the router in the attic, where it gets *really* hot
Azaryeah, the coolest areas I can find is the bathroom and the kitchen floors..
Skaagwhat's a good way to run debian inside debian, virtualized?
js_Skaag: i recommend xen
Skaagjs_: will this require kernel patches?
js_Skaag: nope, jsut install xen-linux-system
or whatever the package is called, i forgot
apt-cache search -n xen
Skaagcool :)
yes I see the list of them
js_Skaag: its actually very easy to get it running in debian... check out #xen as well
Skaagcool! :)
sounds good
thanks mate
