_Rubyxxok
enouf_Rubyxx: right .. most only install 1.7GB (tasksel Desktop env) , and allocate say a few gigs for root, some Swap, and the rest a /home
eeyore-why in the world does sun want to put java everywhere? (slashdot, Sun's answer to 'iphone')
i'm so sick of java
munxxjava wants to marry cocacola
eeyore-it's probably because of java that my phone works as badly as it does. slow response time, dropped digits ...
perlmonkeyI'm fairly sure it's something really dumb I have overlooked, everything worked fine, until I decided to move my /home folder onto a server and mount it over NFS
eeyore-why can't they learn from sony PSP. THAT has a very nice UI for having no keyboard buttons
enouf_Rubyxx: IOW, a typical desktop installation with X and either kde/gnome ends up being a bit under 2G, after that, it's all whatever you want .. and you don't even need all that (full desktop, nor any X) if you don't want
eeyore-perlmonkey: what's the problem?
klim_hi, does any know if there an issue with 2.4 kernel have usb automounting or not?
eeyore-klim_: kernel doesn't automount anything usb ...
enoufperlmonkey: perhaps see the various nfs man pages -> nfs nfsd nfsservctl nfsstat
ccvp`WORKIslam is spreading throughout the world. THey have a long term goal to try to corrupt the earth w/ their bullshit Satan religoun: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17874369/ - - - Hamas has a $3billion base in Paraguay, south america.
eeyore-nutjob
enoufperlmonkey: perhaps pastbin your /etc/fstab for others to view
klim_eeyore: you saying automounting does work on usb devices?
enoufklim_: sure it does
klim_: using kde or gnome?
stewklim_: how are you trying to automount them? with autofs? with gnome?
Overflow-debianh3: no luck mate..
perlmonkeyeeyore: problem is, when I start xfce4 i cant run kde apps, I get dcop related error "DCOP aborting (delayed) call from 'kded' to 'klauncher'" and other stuff, I moved my /home folder to a centralised server and now use NFS to mount it on my clients, everything worked fine before I did that :-/
klim_autfs
eeyore-klim_: no. you asked "does kernel 2.4 have problems automounting usb devices" ... if you had problem, doubtful it would be related to kernel 2.4
enoufklim_: there's gnome-volume-manager
x_linkdeb http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main contrib
enoufman autofs then
_RubyxxDoes Debian have a recovery disk?
x_linkdeb-src http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main contrib
Overflow-debianh3: still no sound..
x_linkSorry
enoufklim_: i think there's 2 separate man pages IIRC
eeyore-perlmonkey: probably coincidental. exactly WHY does kde fail? it's got to tell you something. see ~/.xsession-errors
enoufOverflow-debian: using alsa?
perlmonkeyok
Overflow-debianyes
eeyore-perlmonkey: i know the general "it doesn't work" but i was hoping for more specifics
