h3sp4wnOverflow-debian: look at /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base
Overflow-debianit is options snd-intel8x0m index=-2
sorr for tha ignorance
h3sp4wnIf that is the one you don't want to be the main soundcard yes (presuming the analog devices one is another card)
Overflow-debianyes
how do i fix that?
_RubyxxOk thanks all
Overflow-debianto use a different card.
perlmonkeywhat happens if the same linux user logs in twice
h3sp4wnOverflow-debian: It will be fixed if that doesn't grab index 0
Overflow-debian: just add that line to the bottom of /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base - maybe you should read some alsa documentation
Overflow-debiani read some.. tried all sort
gniretar_workdoes anyone have any good documentation on how to use debconf and perl?
Overflow-debianno luck
E-bolaIs there no top utility for io, mainly disk io im concerned about
Overflow-debianit was working one upon a time, with different settings, but i cant remember what card.
E-bolahow can i see which processes is generating the io?
perlmonkeyhas anyone had any experience of DCOP problems while running NFS?
h3sp4wnOverflow-debian: That will work (you would have to reload the alsa modules or reboot though0
frankE-bola: maybe dstat?
perlmonkeyfukin dcop :-{}
Overflow-debianok rebooting
brb
thx h3
E-bolafrank: dstat dont allow you to see the info per process does it?
enouf_Rubyxx: the DVD sizes are compressed, so if you installed all the software from them, you need almost ~50GB of HDD space
h3sp4wnE-bola: atop is nice (but for that functionality you would need the kernel patches)
munxxHi, just a question: How can I change the motd? I change it, but after a shutdown it comes to show the original message, why?
gniretar_work/etc/motd?
enouf_Rubyxx: erm.. the files are .. just like regular .debs, there's a d/l size and an installed size
munxxyes, i change with root the /etc/motd
gniretar_workhmmm
no idea
munxxbut after a shutdown it shows the original message
_RubyxxHmm! then in that case it seems a limited install from DVD 1 is the only choice...I only have a 36GB hard drive on my second PC
enoufperlmonkey: the dcop thing, as noted by another earlier is only supposedly kde related, but i have some of both ghere , so i don'y know for sure
sepski_Rubyxx, what is a limited install ?
perlmonkeyenouf: yes, I think it's only kde apps which is affected
_RubyxxI am not sure ..... I hope that means I do not need to use the other DVDs
sepskiyou never even install pacakges you dont need it's pointless, wasteful, gives conflicts etc etc etc. install what you need and not everything and the toothpicks
