|stew||r0otz_: your probablem has nothing to do with debian|
|reber||how can i install phppgadmin with *postgresql-8.x* on etch ?|
|stew||r0otz_: which you lied about before, causing me to waste my time trying to diagnose the non-existant dchp3 server on your non-existant debian router|
|sterling||what makes irssi better than bitchx for example?|
|xand||sterling: easier to use etc|
|alleyoopster||ampex: many like screen i use urxvt|
|_Rubyxx||I am new to debian......My Iso install images for Debian seem to take up three 4.3 GB DVDs. Is all of that necessary? Nothing I have ever loaded b4 has required so much.|
|ampex||_Rubyxx: just download the net install iso|
|alleyoopster||ampex: and i realised i am answering the wrong question, irssi is the real answer|
|scarface||is it neccessary to configure anything after installing ktorrent like firewalls or forward ports on my local machine?|
|sepski||_Rubyxx, no thats just extra software that you may (or may not) install if you need it use the netinstall instead|
|x_link||scarface: I didn't configure anything when I installed Ktorrent.|
|EdLin||\amethyst: you could gain that simplicity without making gconf into a filesystem.|
|_Rubyxx||Em! I want to install a dual boot system, so I am worried that a net install may leave me out of control of the process. Besides my other PC is on a Windows network - so the net connection may fail|
|scarface||x_link: ok good, I just needed to set the ports correctly but I thought maybe there are some certain things internally to set|
|x_link||scarface: I just configured my Max. Upload limit and so on and which dir. I wanted all downloads to go to. That's all.|
scarface: Not for me anyway-
I use Firestarter as firewall.
And I didn't have to do anything.
|EdLin||_Rubyxx: use a full CD then, you don't have to download all of them.|
|_Rubyxx||Well I already have DVDs 1 and 2. I'm waiting for no3.....but does 3 X 4.3 GB DVDs mean I need about 15 GB space on my Hard drive?|
|Overflow-debian||how do force alsa to use "alalog devices" sound card instead of "intel ICH4"|
|sepski||_Rubyxx, you only need the first dvd in any case.|
|sepski||_Rubyxx, and that's all packaged files it will take a lot more space then that on your harddrive unpacked|
|xjkx||i want to install lazarus is it free?|
|sepski||and it's not even possible to install all of it, becouse there are multiple versions of the same tools that you can not install at the same time.|
|h3sp4wn||Overflow-debian: options snd-hda-intel index=-2 (presuming alalog devices is a seperate card) (replace snd-hda-intel with whatever intel ich4 is) add to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base|
|sepski||that's why the netinstall is the best option, that way you only download the packages you need. and not all the other packages you dont need on the dvd's|
I just changed to Sid and did aptitude update, aptitude upgrade and dist-upgrade.
Then I did deborphan | xargs aptitude purge.
It removed KControl, so I can't open Control Center anyway.
How is it possible that it removes Control Center?
|Overflow-debian||sorry, can you elaborate?|
|h3sp4wn||Overflow-debian: maybe if you do so I know what you are talking about first|
|hall_||what should i add to my sources list to get packages listed as 'oldstable' eg webmin?|
|Overflow-debian||is options a command?|
