r0otz_coban:/etc/dhcp3#
stew: damn i thought i did. i need dhcp server in order to turn this dhcp to static?
EdLindamog: heaven forbid that AT&T lose their trademark.
chop1eeyore-: That's nothing you want to spring even a relatively skilled Linux user unless you educate them about the danger first
damogHeh.
xozusing sid means you have to play around /var/lib/dpkg/ files some of the time
eeyore-abrotman: now contrast that with this: i have Veritas netback shit that breaks like once a month. Either that or the SpectraLogic spectra2k robotic tape library we paid good money for. Commercial junk like this that breaks. THAT gives me more anxiety than sid breaking :-)
stewr0otz_: is this really the router you are running these commands on?
damogxoz: But once in a very long while.
Sometimes.
r0otz_stew: i dont understand ur queston stew... yes D-Link router
\amethystEdLin: I'm pretty sure it hasn't been AT&T's trademark in a long time
stewr0otz_: your original question was about your getting different ips from your dhcp server. so you must be running a dhcp server already
Overflow-debianhow do i foce alsa to use a different soundcard
EdLin\amethyst: true, it's Open Group or something.
abrotmaneeyore-: because you know your way around sid .. newbs don't ..
r0otz_stew: well the thing is i have arouter k.. and every once in a while it changes internal (network) ip addres on em
eeyore-chop1: pre/post install script and "exit 0" are your friends :-)
SoftIcedoes anyone have any working tested preseed files for a remote re-instllation to a debian installation with ip configuration, ssh instalation ,etc
\amethystEdLin: and Novell before that
r0otz_stew: then my ass has to loginto the modem. and forward every stinkin port all over again
Overflow-debianhow do i force alsa to use a different soundcard?
chop1eeyore-: Right, and if the Debian project handed stuff like that to its users without warning them... we'd feel bad about ourselves :-)
r0otz_stew: so i can connect to ftp, ssh etc daeomons via my house =))
EdLin\amethyst: yeah, and Novell's rights with Unix(tm), though not that one, have been useful in the SCO case.
\amethystEdLin: it's (R) btw
eeyore-chop1: right, so it's not for newbies necessarily but i can't possibly agree that it's really as bad as you all make it out to be :-)
r0otz_stew: but if im at home and in the mean time router applys a different network ip to this debian box.. i gota go mess with modem port forwarding
r0otz_stew: i hope that clear it up a bit
stewr0otz_: oh is the modem the thing that is running the dhcp server?
xozand novell is kissing ass of microsoft now
stewr0otz_: becuase your router clearly isn't. and some machine is clearly running a dhcp server
EdLinxoz: I think Novell didn't know what they were getting in to.
purplepenguinshello
r0otz_stew: .. dsl modem? im not sure.. but something keeps chaning my Network IP .. i know about the ISP ip .. itsn ot static
purplepenguinsis etch available on a single DVD?
xoznovell + sco + microsoft ... eewww
EdLin: making pact with the *devil*, heh
EdLinxoz: Novell has continued going against sco in their suit against IBM.
