perlmonkeyhow do I get my sys to mount a partition on bootup, and does the procedure vary if you are mounting over nfs?
h3sp4wnhumbolto: No idea about sarge - all I know is it (can ?) use yaird
enoufhumbolto: iinm, doing a dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-$(uname -r) should update your initrd, but not so sure if that applies to the older cramfs initrds(Sarge)
perlmonkeyhi enouf
n3kl_valdyn: right, thanks. I just figured ( incorectly ) that cron.d was the same way. Thanks
enoufhumbolto: i guess that might even be kernel-image-... for sarge
simonrvnthat may work, what enouf said
dfa001anyone know how to disable esmtp in sendmail?
enoufperlmonkey: yo
maddashamphi et al.: w00t i just ported linux-phc-2.6.20 to 2.6.21. now I can undervolt AND have a tickless kernel!
actionmaddash does the victory dance

itchivaldyn: Sorry, i'm back
perlmonkeyanyone know what causes a panel error when starting gnome? I get "detected panel already running, i will now close down" only happens when I'm mounted on nfs /home
itchivaldyn: lsmod | grep pata do not output somethings
simonrvnmaddash: tickless? what use could that be? mind explaining briefly?
valdynitchi: you should have a pata_something modules loaded if your parallel ata disks are shown as sd*

{cyborg}Hi all. I have a security-related question : how come my /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/* symlinks have 777 rights by default ?
maddashsimonrvn: slaps on about an extra hour of battery life.
perlmonkey"i've detected a panel already running, and will now exit"
simonrvnperlmonkey: probably not getting a lock (probably not all or a proper one)
DawnLighthow do i actually do this from grub? : -b, emergency
Boot directly into a single user shell without running any other startup scripts.
Throat{cyborg}: all symlinks normally have 777 :) it doesnt mean anything, only the permission of the files matter
xand{cyborg}: symlink permissions have no effect
simonrvnmaddash: ah, so it doesn't tick, therefore saving power
DawnLightit sounds like its going to be useful
simonrvnplus the undervolting
Tsarinhi all - is there user-space way to determine if my running kernel was configured with HIGHMEM ? I'm running Debian, vmlinuz-2.4.27-3-686-smp in a machine with 2G of RAM. I'm trying to make sure that the machine will really use all the memory.
perlmonkeysimonrvn: oh, could be a file missing eh
enoufperlmonkey: start it from a xterm
{cyborg}xand: but that means everybody can remove the symlink thus disable an apache module !
itchivaldyn: It is a fresh install btw, maybe did i somethings wrong, but i can not believe it
simonrvnDawnLight: all bootloaders do that
