vchrizzuhm, i just wanted to upgrade my system and it stops at configuring tzdata .. post-install script returns error 10... syslog tells: init: no more processes left in this runlevel i dont find anything usefull in google.. what could cause this error?
sn0nn
vchrizzhow do i create a livedvd based on my current running system?
Arafangionvchrizz: Why the hell would you want to? That said, I think there's mondo/mindi.
castvchrizz: i think there is a debian livecd project to do that
GoldenMunkyhello everyone, I have just a quick question. I currently have a box that is running Debian and I'm about to upgrade it from a Celeron to an AMD Operton. I was wondering if I would need to reinstall everything or would Linux detect everything and I wouldn't need to do anything special?
castArafangion: because he has installed all the programs/etc.. he wants, and would like a livecd with the same environment as his desktop
GoldenMunky: if you want to use the AMD64 port then you'll need a reinstall. i think if you're happy with i386 then maybe fstab needs to be changed and maybe the initrd needs to be rebuilt, but i'm just guessing here
vchrizzArafangion: well, i would rather like to have it on an usb stick, but theres not big enough sticks... so i thought about dvdrw ;)
GoldenMunkycast: Thanks for the information, I will backup everything first and then try it.
vchrizzcast: ive googled a bit, but i just find live distros or how to create livecds from any other source than the current running system
DawnLightwhat is the sendmail_path = for exim4?
vchrizz!sendmail
dpkgrumour has it, sendmail is one of the orginal MTAs. Generally, if you don't know why you'd want to run sendmail, you shouldn't. Use nullmailer, esmtp, exim or postfix instead. see the oreilly book of the same name.
castvchrizz: i googled for debian live cd and i think the first hit is it, the debian live project :P
[reading the getmail authors opinion of sendmail is quite damning to sendmail]
Deepacast: Isnt Morphix KINDA debian(-based)?
vchrizzcast: funny, the first hit i get is knoppix when searching for "debian live cd" .. second is ps3 livecd, third wikipedia
but i got it when searching for debian live project
DeepaMorphix is Knoppix->Debian :P
castvchrizz: ahh. customized google search? i dunno why but my google searches always do come out better it seems :\
actioncast didn't think google knew it was him that was searching though, as it was with w3m on a clean install
castdidn't think google knew it was him that was searching though, as it was with w3m on a clean install
Deepa: certainly. so is grml :) i suspect debian has the most derivitives, and for good reason
vchrizzcast: customized... uhm not really, maybe because im using google.at instead of google.com? who cares, thx ;)
Deepacast: Its the best :>
It creates the rest XD
Arafangionvchrizz: Just make a re-masted knoppix and be done with it.
DeepaMorphix <3
castArafangion: or grml!
grml is targeted at more advanced users than knoppix, and i have a feeling doesn't have gdm or gnome. mostly CLI apps
s/gdm/kde
amphicast: sysresccd.org iso is another nice one
vchrizzArafangion: *reading apt desc* mondo/mindi is exactly what i need thx ;)
what is grml?
actioncast wonders why recovering files from XFS is 'almost impossible'
