gpmtrue
valdynunstable in debian means primarily 'moving target', not 'crashing'
daidalus13I installed skype a couple of weeks ago and I still haven't managed to make my voice heard by the other side properly It sounds as if I speak very slowly. Some words are cut, too. Anybody has the same problem. I am using Skype (1.3.0.53) on my Linux Debian (2.4 kernel Gnome) system
tarzeauabrotman: my indigo2 works! :)
valdyndaidalus13: using alsa or oss?
gpmexcept for when sid uses beta versions
which it does sometimes
h3sp4wnSome stuff in sid is declared unstable by upstream (i.e gcc-4.2 that was added recently)
gpmor gaim
hehe
HardDisk_WPwhat to put into apache2's conf to force the output being declared as ISO-8859-1??
tarzeauh3sp4wn: it's declared unstable by gcc.gnu.org ?
chassthis faq is great
valdynHardDisk_WP: the content in the html file?
daidalus13valdyn: I think you are right. I never had a crash on my pc. And I am not a guru. Converted to linux March 2006.
chassnext time i'm drunk i'll come here and ask all those questions
HardDisk_WPno
daidalus13valdyn: ALSA
HardDisk_WPvaldyn, phpbb2 makes wrong HTTP headers
leptondaidalus13: fast cpu on the box?
HardDisk_WPvaldyn, it specifies UTF8 instead of ISO-8859-1
valdynHardDisk_WP: uh, no idea
h3sp4wntarzeau: Interesting - Don't know why they packaged a cvs version then
HardDisk_WPI know there is some conf setting for that but I have absolutely zero idea
daidalus13valdyn: 2.4Ghz, 512Mb RAM, 120Gb HD (using only a 20Gb partition)
gpmnow i've done it
valdyndaidalus13: skype and your sound driver obviously disagree about the sampling rate of your sound device
tarzeauh3sp4wn: of what?
gpmsee yous guys.
valdyn!dmix
dpkgwell, dmix is an alsa subsystem which allows a music device to play multiple sound streams simultaneously without the need for an external sound server. See http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php?page=DmixPlugin, or another sample asound.conf at img.hexus.net/v2/features/foss/a3/images/asound.conf, or http://phaeronix.net/asoundrc
tarzeauh3sp4wn: because upstream doesn't make tarballs, or those are horribly outdated
h3sp4wntarzeau: or at least the version string is misleading - 4.2-20070516-1
valdyndaidalus13: look this up ^^ to specify a sane sampling rate for alsa
tarzeauh3sp4wn: that's the exceptions, not the majority in sid
valdyndaidalus13: dmix is not needed for this though
tarzeauh3sp4wn: you'll even find such version numbers in stable
h3sp4wntarzeau: I know
valdyndaidalus13: maybe skype permits setting of sampling rate too, i wouldnt know
daidalus13valdyn: I thought this must be a sampling rate problem but I don;t know where to start to fix this. Everything else works fine . Even recording. I checked that.
