karstendos000: Context?
tarzeaulontra: no, it's the other two points i mentioned above
amerejany module to replace tulip i think i doesn't work well
lontrai see but it think aptitude is much better at dependency resolving
yigalkarsten: as far as I was aware apt-get has made vital improvements to compare comparably with aptitude, its nice to see aptitude is finally the choice over apt-get
dos000karsten, for exemple if i type apt-get install openssh and tab .. it will give me the list of packages satrting with openssh
lontratarzeau, when are you going to package bub-n-bros?
tarzeaukarsten: oh nos! and aptitude isn't parameter backward compatible :(
karstentarzeau: Stop giving out bad/bogus recommendations
h3sp4wnyigal: Only the one in experimental
tarzeaulontra: when abrotman gets DD or when he maintains a package in debian
lontratarzeau, ha ha ha
karstendos000: Running zsh?
yigalh3sp4wn: ok, healthy competition
tarzeaukarsten: i truly believe it was not bad nor bogus
dos000karsten, i always use bash .. even in solaris !
karsten, spoiled by bash !
yigaldos000: I am spoiled by bash also, couldn't live on a computer with out it
lontraslowaris!
dos000i tought their must be a package that allows bash to do that for package names
pipelinelontra: humbug
tarzeaulontra: the os isn't that slow, but their framebuffer sucks somehow badly
pipelinelontra: also, aptitude uses the same libapt as everything else for dependency resolution
h3sp4wnthere is - but zsh still does it better
pipelinelontra: it's just that aptitude additionally installs recommendations and suggestions by default
lontrapipeline, not true ... aptitude is much better at resolving dependencies
pipelinelontra: err, no.
dos000btw: its normal on ubunut .. i always wished sarge had it .. and how glad was i wheni saw it in etch
tarzeaupipeline: suggestions, not afaik
pipelinelontra: libapt is libapt is libapt.
tarzeaulontra: i never noticed something like that
pipelinelontra: it's not like there's a special golden magic libapt just for aptitude.
tarzeaupipeline: thanks :)
lontrapipeline, well use what you will ... i find aptitude to work better for me in situtations where apt-get is fucked
pipelinelontra: Well, congratulations. It has fuckall to do with dependency resolution.
kombihow did one completely and utterly remove a package again? apt-remove --purge something?
lontraapt-get remove --purge
cafuegokombi: apt-get remove --purge or dpkg -P
tarzeaulontra, karsten besides when apt-get (apt) is deprecated, how is aptitude remove apt not possible?
kombithanks!
