keith80403How can I get "pvdisplay" to show the VG name of a drive that is now at /dev/hdb ? I can see the VB names at /dev/hda
My problem is that I've had to add a new /dev/hda drive in order to recover data from an intact, but non-bootable drive that used to be the boot disk. Now, though, LVM doesn't see the volumes I want to recover on /dev/hdb.....
karstenkeith80403: In general, read the LVM HOWTO, which is pretty excellent.
tvynrdc: Nitty gritty is, I think, iwconfig eth1 scan
karstendc: Not all wireless devices support "scan", in fact many don't.
keith80403karsten, I'll try that, wish me luck. Nobody's home over on #lvm...
dcyeah, it says unrecognized command
scan
ustunozgurwhat was the command to change the look and feel of qt apps under gnome?
tvynrdc: Does iwconfig eth1 do anything good for you?
wolsdc: you usually have to put it in monitor mode. I do have with mine for example
and then, if it can scan it might not be able to inject (like mine)
karstenustunozgur: kcontrol?
ustunozgur: The KDE control center in general.
dcok, when do iwconfig eth1, it just gives me the info about the adapter
how do i get it into monitor mode?
karstendc: man iwconfig
dc: w/o args (just the interface) it reports values.
ustunozgurkarsten: maybe that changes too, but I had used a different application for qt3 apps.
yigalis there a reason that Debian is still using 2.18 kernel?
streunerheh
wolsdc: for what you want to do, all you need is aircrack-ng, nothing else
streuneryigal: what's wrong with 2.6.18?
tvynrhehe... 2.18... sudo apt-get install time-machine :-P
yigalstreuner: nothing is wrong with 2.18 but isn't it a good idea to keep up with kernel development?
ustunozgurok, it's qt3-qtconfig
h3sp4wndc: iwlist eth1 scan (that is the usual syntax) - wpa_supplicant has a scanner you could try if that doesn't work
streuneryigal: folks who work on d-i (debian-installer) had hard times to integrated the kernel into d-i
yigalstreuner: Very interesting.
wolsyigal: do you want a stable distro or not?
h3sp4wnyigal: there is other issues with newer kernels (2.6.21 especially) - 2.6.18 has the advantage of also being used by RHEL 5
dcok, iwlist eth1 scan
wolsyigal: btw, no one makes you continue to use 2.6.18. you can always get the latest kernel source and compile it
yigalwols: I am using debian unstable - so not particularly
wolsyigal: then wy do you complain? unstable has .21 iirc. or at least .20
mike1oI can only scan as root with xsane, is it because /dev/usbscanner is owned by root?
yigalwols: perhaps I do not have linux-image installed
dcok, iwlist eth1 scan does not work ***
h3sp4wndc: what card are you using ?
wolsyigal: if you don't, how do you boot?
