omriany1 else? x86_64 etch installation? please?
stoned!anyone
dpkgPlease do not ask if anyone uses, knows, is good with, can help you with or is a guru/expert of <someprogram>. Instead, ask your real question. (If the real question _was_ "does anyone use <someprogram>?" ask me about <popcon> instead.) See <ask> <sicco> <ask-to-ask> <polls>
omriI need /usr/bin of x86_64 etch installation. better?
uweomri, get a list of packages that have files in /usr/bin, the way suggeted earlier, there is an option to download and not install, extract the packages in some directory, similar to fake root and get the packages from there !!!!\
stonedomri: how could you not have a /usr ?
omristoned, I've erased /usr/bin by accident
uwestoned, he deleted it
danieldgI'm trying to compile a kernel for i386 on amd64. I have the compile working, but make-kpkg fails with "dpkg-gencontrol: error: current build architecture amd64 does not appear in package's list (i386)". What else do I need to specify?
stonedomri: oh no
omrioh yes :(
stonedomri: how did you do that?
Alarmuwe, maybe this could help a bit i did as root: usermod -a -G plugdev alarm and then as a user: pmount /dev/sda1 . and worked again. but when i shut the hd off, and turned it on again it didnt work . i couldnt get in
bokaomri: man I feel sorry for you
stonedomri: you've lost pretty much all binaries in /usr/bin unless you install all the packages again you can't get them back
omriI do as well.
stonedomri: might as well reinstall and save some trouble for yourself
omristoned, I need apt-get to start with
can't reinstall.
chop1omri: You might have better luck doing a fresh install on a new partition, and then move over the data from the borked system
uweAlarm, what do you mean i couldnt get in
stonedomri: reinstalling might be easier now than trying to fix it
chop1omri: Trying to repair a system that's that badly broken will be a big PITA
Alarmi get the messege : the mount point /media/win5 is allready occupied
omristoned, I can't
stonedomri: why not?
bokaomri: ok. can you acess dpkg ?
danieldgomri: I'd try using debbootstrapping into a chroot for the basic binaries then reinstall all packages after getting dpkg/apt-get working again
Alarmbut: rockpc:/home/alarm# umount /media/win5 .umount: /media/win5: not mounted
uweargh ....
actionuwe decides to stop trying
uwedecides to stop trying
bokaomri: dpkg is inside /usr/sbin/
omristoned, I don't have physical access to it
bokaomri: for most part
Alarmand once i do again as simple user: pmount /dev/sda1 . it mounts without any problem
but not when i double click to enter in the drive
omriboka, I know, I'm getting other problems after I've installed it
uweAlarm, hmmm ...
