killerstormhelo. after i did some network configurations smbfs is not mounting disks on boot. but when i log in, mount -a mounts them. what can be a possible cause of this issue?
can it be connected with removing /etc/network/if-up.d/mountnfs ?
if i'd like to restore occasionally deleted mountnfs, how do i find which package was it in?
patrikfkillerstorm: dpkg-query -S [full path of file]
JouiHi, what is the wat to start in single mode using grub?
azeemJoui: usually, the Debian kernel packages configure a "(single user)" grub option for each kernel
liableor add init=/bin/sh to you kernel line
uweor pass 1 ... i think
Jouithanks people :)
liableyep, 1 or single
petemcyou would need to press "e" to get the option to do that..
liableof course..
delireif you haven't already: http://www.linux.com/article.pl?sid=07/04/27/1211211 ;)
killerstormthanks, i've restored this file (mountnfs)! btw it says "Also mounts SMB filesystems now, so the name of this script is getting increasingly inaccurate". no wonder i was confused :)
Mazingarohi

liablemy god, the first paragraph of that article makes me want to throw up
delirehehe
GeirOlaIm having a problem with VNC. Or..a luxury problem i guess that is. I'm using VNC to connect to my server which is connected to the TV. When I play videos on the remote server it gets played beautifully, but it gets very laggy on the local machine of course. Is it possible to deny VNC to play videos in any way?
I'd like it to stop transferring the video to the local machine
and just play it on the remote machine
it could just display a black window where the video's supposed to be here..
vin`Mazingaro: using acpi?
petemcgeirola: you could ssh to the box, change the display variable and use mplayer//
GeirOlalike..mplayer --display :0 movie.avi ?
petemcthat, or export it..
GeirOlahow would i do that?
petemcexport DISPLAY=0.1
GeirOlawhat will that do..in human terms?:)
petemcchange where it thinks the display is
you'll need to adjust that, obv - 0.1 was what i used in the past for the s-video output of a nvidia card..
omriwhat can I do if I accidentally deleted /usr/bin ???
is this recoverable?
xozomri: reinstall is faster if you want to avoid hassles
uweomri, not really
omriI can't reinstall it
it's a production server, bah :(
