streunerindu: about locales..., you need locales in order to change languages...
cmedleyYou guys musos eh? :D what do i need in the last released kernel.
streunermusos?
basantashresthapastebin.ca not working ?
harkindu: you should file a bug report then.. or alternaively pastebin what happens here when you try to install it with the en_in locale
streuner!paste
dpkgwell, paste is Do NOT paste into the channel. Use http://channels.debian.net/paste on FreeNode and http://channels.debian.net/paste2/ on OFTC or if those are not working, ask me about <pastebin> for other options
GhostlyDeath_ESD has bad latency, there a better ESD?
streuner!esd
dpkgwell, esd is the enhanced segfault daemon, or the Enlightened Sound Daemon. Some interesting things that can be done include using 'mpg123' on a remote computer, and having it connect to a local esound daemon. AKA: Evil Sound Daemon, or "my views on esd are mostly unprintable." -- Alan Cox
induhark, ok
streunerGhostlyDeath_: no, not if you using GNOME and want use that crap
harkuse alsa :)
GhostlyDeath_It's the only thing that allows mixing
streunernah, that's not an option if you want sound events like closing a window or such
cmedleyThat's such a file.
streunerGhostlyDeath_: well, emu10k1 is able to use that without dmix
cmedleyno such user `username.
\amethystGhostlyDeath_: alsa can do mixing, too
harkpeople like that?
induwhere is initdb in debian?
\amethyst!dmix
dpkghmm... dmix is an alsa subsystem which allows a music device to play multiple sound streams simultaneously without the need for an external sound server. See http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php?page=DmixPlugin, or another sample asound.conf at img.hexus.net/v2/features/foss/a3/images/asound.conf, or http://phaeronix.net/asoundrc
GhostlyDeath_\amethyst: How would I set it up?
\amethystGhostlyDeath_: ^^
GhostlyDeath_\amethyst: It capture old programs talking to \dev\dsp?
cmedley[Shiba], ok, i'll give it a bit old.
harkindu: part of postgresql
\amethystGhostlyDeath_: IIRC you need to run them under aoss
streunerGhostlyDeath_: /dev/dsp is OSS
cmedleyHark, but without oss i don't have /dev/dsp.
streuneruse ALSA-OSS module then
cmedleyWell, then if you have and load the module to the oss output plugin.
artagnonDoes every Debian server have the source packages too? ftp.kr.debian.org, the one in Korea doesn't seem to
\amethystGhostlyDeath_: but if the program doesn't speak alsa it probably doesn't speak esd either
streunerartagnon: in general yes
cmedleyYes but that means you get in more.
harkcmedley: use alsa-oss; modprobe snd-pcm-oss :)
GhostlyDeath_Would "Enable Software Mixing (ESD)" have to be off in GNOME?
cmedleyOff to the kernel thing that allows mixing.
