jetscreamerBUMBACL0T: i didn't read the spam dude... that's why i suggested putting it all on one line, delete the line breaks
peterSmuhoo: yeah but how many apps did you compile and install locally on your system, not rpm-managed?
Dewituv: hmm. maybe I should give it another try. The VNC support that "just came with" gnome was slow as honey last time I used it though
muhoopeterS: now, gentoo users, and freebsd, are a different beast. they recompile nightly
peterS: i don't recall doing any compiling, except for stuff in /usr/local for which there weren't rpm's
but it's been many years now
peterSmuhoo: I'm not talking about rebuilding your rpms, I'm talking about if you have apps that you didn't get from red hat, _those_ you have to rebuild or upgrade when you upgrade rh
win2000i like windows
BUMBACL0Tjetscreamer, how come i can access my ftp locally but not remotely; everything is fixed, my ftp server's ip is DMZ'd; im using vsftpd
muhoopeterS: oh, ok. upgrade, yes
Dewituv: it would be nice to see it eclipse the functionality available in winXP - that is, a high performance desktop that I can detach and access remotely with useable performance
muhoopeterS: RPM DEPENDENCY HELL
win2000BUMBACL0T: i like windows
peterSmuhoo: whereas on debian, with our shared library management, your apps _do not break_ when you upgrade your system. ever. if they do that's a bug.
muhoopeterS: in fact that is why i switched to debian
Dewituv: but I haven't used ti since sarge
win2000muhoo: there's pup
BUMBACL0Twin2000, and?
win2000Dewi: i like windows
jetscreamerBUMBACL0T: i don't know, but maybe it's the hosts.allow or rpc or whatever... you know, those things you look at when it doesn't work
win2000jetscreamer: i like windows
Dewiwin2000: me too
win2000: want to fuck?
tuvDewi, vnc is inherently performance-limited
muhoo/ignore win2000
win2000Dewi: no thanks
BUMBACL0Tjetscreamer, rpc?
frankr/server -m irc.gamesurge.org
Dewituv: yeah. I can't exactly VNC to localhost and watch movies. But XP sort of... effortlessly switches
frankroops
jetscreamerBUMBACL0T: i'm not the guy to ask
win2000/ignore muhoo
farseer_BUMBACL0T: have you modyfied hosts.allow ?
BUMBACL0Tfarseer_, no
peterSmuhoo: as for your question, I have no idea which soname flag you should use with libtool. it depends on (a) what upstream does, (b) whether what upstream does is sane, (c) if upstream's soname management is not adequate, it depends on the actual binary compatibility issues (and expected future issues) between upstream versions
win2000what is deb extesnion for?
muhoopeterS: ok, then it's possible that the debian maintainer screwed up in this case. i'll wait for 1.0 and then break everything.
farseer_BUMBACL0T: then there is your error
jetscreamerlike .rpm or .msi
BUMBACL0T!ops win2000
