Dave_is_sexyoh really?
Alarmhello i got a problem on kde-debian to set up the time. although xchat shows the right time, and when i "adjust time & date" have the correct, time , in the task bar i get 3 forward. when i change it , it messes it up and shows 29 april 21:00 although its 1may 0:30 here. even after a restart the same problem
raf256cureless: how to select it now
delireraf256: yes i know they suck for the most part. i'm a graphics developer. i'll make them aware of this in the manual.
Alarmi did change the timezone and did put athens
delireraf256: of the shortcomings i mean..
curelessraf256: you can run tasksel, however, we should be able to figure out what your problem is.
raf256: my problem is I'm running out of time and I need to go do some work.
raf256delire: free nv is useless for 3d (and barable for 2d desktop). Free i915 is tollerable for 3d and nice for 2d I suppose. Didnt tried Radeon yet
delire: AFAIR, unfortunatelly, for 3d - get nvidia + closed driver :/
delireIs there no one page to point newbies needing hardware acceleration in Debian. I normally compile and sometimes package my own ATI drivers from source, but would never reccommend others to do the same of course.
actiondelire has been running (foolishly) ATI cards in Debian for around 5 years.
delirehas been running (foolishly) ATI cards in Debian for around 5 years.
raf256cureless: ok, care to figure it out?
delire: on open driver? how usable is it in 3d games say tremulous
curelessraf256: what errors did you get when you ran fluxbox?
raf256cureless: wait, let me kill X (its hard)
curelessraf256: what's hard and why do you need to kill X?
delireraf256: i don't know, i don't run the free drivers. i'm too interested in Shader Programming.
arencinosahad any of you used iptables to generate network statistics?
raf256cureless: I had to killall -9 xinit and alt-ctrl-backspace
curelessraf256: why?
raf256arencinosa: I thought there are tools for that like iftraf
cureless: ctrl-C in text VT where I run xinit didnt killed xinit
delirearencinosa: there are tools for that yes.
raf256and killall -9 xinit didnt free the VT-7
cureless: ok, I can start a blackbox from xinit. now will try with fluxb
fluxbox fails with: FailedToRead: session.tabs - setting default value - and so on for like 30 or more values
delirearencinosa: i wrote a 3D network visualisation program if you're interested ;) perhaps a little experimental for your needs..
Roninand did you ask in #fluxbox raf256 ?
raf256and then it displays: apps file failure and hangs there (all that text is in the initial aterm)
Ronin: yes, they responded: <_markt> use blackbox
Roninand you havent heard of sarcasm? heh
arencinosadelire: sure!
raf256Ronin: yes I see, I ment they wherent too insightfull on my problem
arencinosawhat do you use for it?
raf256cureless: so... got ideas?
delirearencinosa: well really it needs to run on a router to be of any interest as a _network visualiser_. fine on a single interface though.
arencinosaraf256: which one?
delirearencinosa: http://packetgarden.com
Roninraf256: so? ask again later, be patient you of all people should know the drill, you complain about things being broken enough
