Dewikramed: also etch is still quite recent so upgrading to lenny is probably not very necessary
kramed: in here we support etch first and foremost
westorDewi: where is 'here'?
kramedaye. for a few things I had to use lenny. unstable for kde but for the most part Im using etch
Dewikramed: hmm... you'd need to look at changelogs for each package. I've never looked at them en masse.
westor: this channel
gameman73alright lets try this again... xfce4-session is listening on a network port... why?
jazbo2185The moment of truth!!! time to try the pxe boot I've been trying to set up for 4 hours...
dembuglol jazbo2185
Szeraaxlol, someone else doing pxe?
dembuggoodluck chap
lots of people doing pxe man
Szeraaxyay, a revolution
:)
westorDewi, are you in any authoritative position to make that claim?
Dewi, this is #debian, not #debian-etch.
Dewiwestor: it wasn't a massive claim. I didn't mean to suggest that discussion of lenny or sid are banned, but use of stable is encouraged
westor: debian IS etch - lenny and sid are unfinished projects
gameman73use of stable is encouraged.... why does that sound like stating the obvious? :)
dembugheh is there a debian-sarge and debian-woody channel?
Dewigameman73: apparently it's controversial - westor thinks I am laying down the law harshly :)
westorDewi, debian is not only etch, but only etch is released.
can anyone make a living out of debian?
gravityI don't think etch is encouraged for me
Szeraaxdembug: do you remember what ideas you had for getting my bart pe to boot over netowrk? i had to close the window and didnt grab them
gravityQuite the opposite actually
CaT[tm]westor: in what respect?
dembugheh glibc encourages me to use etch..
Dewiwestor: I am in no position of authority - I don't even know who the "authorities" are anymore. You just add more salt the less well you know somebody.
dembugI don't fancy hacking sarge dependancies apart
since people can't code decent backwards compatible software anymore.. gnu or otherwise i'm getting the hump
end up using more "testing" less "stable"
Dewiwestor: lots of people get utility from debian, but are you asking if the debian project has a payroll?
kramedanyone know of software to control my system fan speeds
threathey
dembugSzeraax <dembug> http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/#wxp
threatI am having problems with cyrus21 from etch
it is telling me I do not have any worthy mechs when attempting to log into cyradm
All I have done is upgrade from sarge to etch
Dewidembug: Personally I recommend using backports or home-made dpkg packages, before jumping off into the land of lenny. Unless you've got a *lot* of stuff to update
