lapsomeone can tell me why when i try to start xine in etch, it tell me "floating point exception" ?
vyrus001solemnwarning, that totaly depends on what you wana use it for
solemnwarningReading/writing backups
valdynsolemnwarning: NOT samba if the 'server' runs linux or any other unixish system
actionsolemnwarning crosses off samba
solemnwarningcrosses off samba
valdynsolemnwarning: you should chose a backup system first
solemnwarningrsync
valdynsolemnwarning: most are limited to specific servers
solemnwarningI'm not sure if I should use NFS or rsyncd
vyrus001solemnwarning, yea for most backups and such id think coda
BUMBACL0T\amethyst, http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/7562/ffffuc6.png
valdynsolemnwarning: rsync is supposedly better run over ssh than rsyncd
vyrus001solemnwarning, coda > nfs
solemnwarningSSH? o_O
valdynsolemnwarning: but i don't know the technicals
solemnwarningSlow much?
Mazingaroplease
wols_vyrus001: how do you compile? and is the new kernel the same version as the old?
valdynsolemnwarning: ssh is as slow as the cipher you use
lapsomeone can tell me why when i try to start xine in etch, it tell me "floating point exception" for error
\amethystBUMBACL0T: Err, you seem to have two different forwards for port 55
valdynsolemnwarning: you don't have to use a cipher that really encrypts, but blowfish is probably fast enough anyway
Mazingarops ax
solemnwarningSince the backups will be ran over my LAN I'll stick with some unencrypted connection
vyrus001wols_, its a new kernel ver, and ive compiled sevral times.. using make oldconfig, using the "debian method" and using my old config.gz droped into the new dir and compiled... for some reason, they all break the same way
solemnwarningYou can have unencrypted SSH?
actionsolemnwarning is confused
solemnwarningis confused
wols_!tell lap about repeat
Mazingarois there anyone using kde on sparc? I got a problem with dying file protocol during login
wols_vyrus001: what is your make-kpkg line?
valdynsolemnwarning: ssh uses pluggable ciphers, there's no technical reason why it must encrypt
solemnwarningHmm
ok
valdynsolemnwarning: now i havcen't used a null cipher or whatever you want to call it, jsut blowfish
solemnwarningI'll use SSH with fast/no cipher
BUMBACL0T\amethyst, i opened on both machines just in case
it*
valdynsolemnwarning: now you might want to pick your backup system first, if you want to use a framework instead of rsync directly
vyrus001wols_, where ?
valdynsolemnwarning: since these frameworks / packages might be limited to specific transfers
