\amethystBUMBACL0T: both of these machines have a real IP address?
mscmancwheeler, i ran google earth with no problems
BUMBACL0T\amethyst, nope, i only have one ip
cwheelerthanks mscman
mscmanno problem
BUMBACL0Teverytime access my REAL ip, it doesn't work
\amethystBUMBACL0T: So when you go from the Windows machine (inside your network) to your real IP it doesn't work
BUMBACL0T: aha
unlinkthis problem has been troubling me for months.
BUMBACL0Tssh works though
\amethystBUMBACL0T: Have you tried coming at your network from outside?
unlinki am at a total loss why it is happening.
BUMBACL0T\amethyst, you wanna try it?
\amethystBUMBACL0T: same IP you're ircing from?
wols_BUMBACL0T: you mean accessing your real ip from inside? that's normal: routers have shitty NAT
\amethystBUMBACL0T: I got connection refused
wols_linux NAT can do it. routers almost never. that's normal
BUMBACL0Tyeah, but let me pm you the info
\amethystBUMBACL0T: I don't mean invalid login, I mean connection refused
BUMBACL0Tstill, i used diff port
\amethystBUMBACL0T: yes, same thing with the other port
BUMBACL0Ti know, im gettin the same problem
i don't think it's my setup
\amethystBUMBACL0T: do you get "connection refused" or something else?
BUMBACL0Tyeah, same thing
HardDisk_WPcan I build, install and use a 2.6.21 kernel with Debian Testing/unstable?
\amethystBUMBACL0T: yeah, I can connect to your ssh port but not ftp
mscmanHardDisk_WP, you should be able to
i don't see why not
HardDisk_WPgood
wols_HardDisk_WP: yes
\amethystBUMBACL0T: So the question is whether the router is failing to forward the packets, or whether your computer is rejecting them
HardDisk_WPmust I configure the kernel manually or can make-kpkg do that?
wols_HardDisk_WP: debian never ever had problems with vanilla kernel sources
HardDisk_WP:)
wols_manually
you can copy the old .config and do a make oldconfig
dclarkehttp://rafb.net/p/KNzmr888.html resolution sucks
\amethystBUMBACL0T: Do you have anything in your vsftp logs about connection attempts?
BUMBACL0Tthis is how i did it: groupadd ftpusersgroup, useradd -G ftpusersgroup -d /home/ftpdirectory myuser; chown myuser:ftpusersgroup /home/ftpdirectory; chmod 777 /home/ftpdirectory
