NY Lost Funds

dclarkeummm .. because I just discovered it
stonedwols_: like I said... waitin on someone dumb enough to buy it :)
dclarke3GHz AMD Opteron AMD256 has been out for a while
they are real sweet
wols_stoned: I meant the user could renege after buying since you didn't say that anywhere
depending on consumer protection laws
stonedwols_: like I said.. I don't need/want to sell it, I just wanna see
valdynadvertising wrongly with intent gives you a hefty fee here, if the buyer choses to sue
abrotmandclarke: what does he want ?
dclarkehe wants better resolution than 1024x768
abrotmandclarke: which card is it? is the monitor capable?
dclarkeI was thinking that the machine would detect the monior capabilities at boot and then adjust xorg on the fly
guess not
valdynabrotman: i think his problem is fixed already
dclarkethe monitor is some high end flat panel job
wols_dclarke: how are you connected? remote X?
BUMBACL0Twhat's the diff between a system user and a regular user?
dclarkeno connection to me at all
totally separate subnet
far away
valdynBulldog: none?
BUMBACL0T: none?
wols_dclarke: then connect via SSH?
valdynBUMBACL0T: those 2 terms are your invention
wols_cause what is on your machine might not be on his
\amethystRedACE: If you strace -f sh -c '`/bin/echo ls`' you'll see that the parent creates a pipe to the subshell, and the subshell dups the writing end of the pipe to stdin before calling echo. So instead of going to the parent shell's stdout, the output of echo gets sent over a pipe to the parent shell, where it is split into words and substituted into the command line
RedACEwow, are you still talking?
\amethystRedACE: It's that pipe/dup combo that I was referring to when I said "capture"
chop1\amethyst: I think he figured it out, you can declare victory now :-)
dclarkeno connection .. no way
BUMBACL0Thow come i can access my ftp locally but not remotely; everything is fixed, my ftp server's ip is DMZ'd; im using vsftpd
valdyn!ftp must die

wols_cause FTP is n awful protocol
valdynBUMBACL0T: read ^^^
BUMBACL0T: its a serious article, despite the flamish name
unlinktrevor@kappa:~$ dd if=/dev/zero | ssh localhost 'cat >/dev/null'
Read from remote host localhost: Connection reset by peer
\amethystBUMBACL0T: does your ftp server run from inetd, or is it a daemon?
r3setvaldyn: i set utc to yes, but it didn't help anything
