netman2\amethyst
AzarMrWup: to me it does not sound well such a low kernel with testing... but eh, let's assume "it works"
MrWupAzar, how do i get a higher kernel?
\amethystnetman2: in Debian the run levels are in /etc/rc?.d
nvzdrugs..
AzarMrWup: easy: apt-cache search linux-image-........... for your cpu architecture. Look on the list and check for 2.6.18 kernel specific for your cpu
\amethystnetman2: The default run level is 2
AzarMrWup: note it down then: aptitude install linux-image-2.6.18-xxxxxxxxxxxx < the entire line you find suitable
nvzis there some kind of command line that will change my resolution in X like the Ctrl+Alt +/- ? so I can like make an icon or applet to do this?
azeemnvz: there's a Gnome applet for this
AzarMrWup: that kernel should come to find your sound modules
nvzhmm.. I'll check my gnome-panel
\amethystazeem: isn't that xrandr?
pablo_hi, can i open office open xml files?
\amethystazeem: that's different from ctrl-alt-+/-
nvz: I have a program, hold on
MrWuplinux-image-2.6.18-4-486 - Linux 2.6.18 image on x86
sound right? im on an intel system
\amethystMrWup: 686
nvzazeem: I don't see it in my list of applets *shrug*
AzarMrWup: I am not sure if 486 .... rather 686
MrWupah, linux-image-2.6.18-4-686 - Linux 2.6.18 image on PPro/Celeron/PII/PIII/P4
Azaryep, "aptitude install" that one
netman2\amethyst thanks for clearing up that dir. I think I am getting more confused. I read that the default run level was 2 in the last lesson from the inittab "I think". I see this is alot of memory work.
MrWupok well its churning away
Azarthen reboot and hang with \azeem > me goes to lunch :)
wolsnvz: you could write a script that editos xorg.conf
MrWupand installing
ok thanks
Azarerrr no... with \amethyst ... (sorry azeem)
nvzwols: na I dont want to restart the server I just want to be able to zoom in without using the keyboard
\amethystnvz: http://s-z.org/neil/progs/xf86vidmode.c
MrWupAzar, shit its removing all my packages
it will put them back right?
netman2am I band?
MrWupaptitude is doing package theft
netman2\amethyst does the sticky bit have something to do with runlevels?
lol sorry about that, wrong slash got me confused.
\amethystnetman2: sticky bit on directories means only the owner of a file can remove that file
PobegaMrWup: I don't think it will put them back automatically. What packages is it removing?
