irulehttp://pastebin.ca/449148 this is it Azar
helfrezVasistha, not a thing of interest, recognizes the drive fine, can see other partition
VaLouille, does say got wrong page and assuming write thorugh cache, other than that nothing
just starts spamming rejecting I/O to offlien ddevice once it locks
Guerinhelfrez: flakey driver/controller
helfrez: this happens sometimes. Tyr disbling acpi and/or apic - sometimes works
Azarirule: interesting, you got sarge AND etch on your sources, did you know that is not good?
helfrezGuerin, yeah tried both of those
Azarirule: most likely you got broken packages with that combination
iruleIm a newbie, what can I say? btw I never touched that file so I dont even know how I got that
oh yes
Azar so do you mind please giving me the correct file?
Azarirule: what is the version number of your Debian? and uname -a what kernel version?
Vasisthairule: well, *somebody* touched that file -- that's certainly not how it came when you installed sarge.
helfrezspamming dmesg looks liek before the device goes offline sbp2 tries to reset the device
AzarVasistha: he was snitching files from etch with backports..
irule: if you want to upgrade to etch you will have to do cleanup: lots of files that are NOT proper for Debian or Sarge should be removed
irule: are you up to the task?
xozirule: how did you install debian? you start from sarge or etch?
maxamillionafter i install hal, it will auto mount cd-roms for me but raises an error when i try to access an usb flash drive ... is there a configuration i missed?
markybob!error
dpkgThe error is on line 89373
maxamillionit says it can't find the device in the /etc/fstab ... which i would imagine it wouldn't but i was under the assumption that hal will add to /etc/fstab as needed
markybobmaxamillion: why? when you have a cdrom line in /etc/fstab
maxamillionmarkybob: but i don't for my usb flash drive
markybob: i thought it would add a line for that
markybobmaxamillion: yes, and your assumption is flawed, like i pointed out with the cdrom line.
brentfudHiya
maxamillionmarkybob: i am missing what you are saying
markybobmaxamillion: if you need a line in fstab for it to mount cds, what makes you think you wouldnt need one for it to mount usb?
Muisjewindows and time estamating
23 hours and 40 minutes
maxamillionmarkybob: i am aware that there is an entry in my /etc/fstab for my cdrom and was apparently mistaken about hald and thus i return to my original question "is there a configuration step i missed?"
GuerinMuisje: those are microsoft minutes
very elastic
Muisjehehe :)
militanthmmm. i'm trying to use java from a term, to run a .jar file. it's giving me this: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JIPS.jar not found in java.lang.ClassLoader$1{urls=[file:/blah/blah/./], parent=null} ... any clues?
maxamillionmilitant: you sure you are running sun-java?
