mfrischyou switch isp?
VasisthaAcu: so, uh ... what on earth makes you think that you *shouldn't* try my suggestion, since I believe I have already addressed all of your past, present, and future objections to it?
abrotmanVasistha: i've seen your suggestions .. salmon on liverwurst .. that's just gross
Vasisthaabrotman: come on, man, you've got to try it! almost as good as putting m&m's inside olives
mfrischVasistha: your weird
Vasistha*you're ;-)
acuVasistha: OK, I got permission denied
TCWhi
wingmfrisch: how about this? why unofficial? http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/sarge-amd64/iso-cd/
TCWWhat is that with debian-overflow?
VasisthaAcu: ah, see how useful the command line error messages can be? unfortunately, I'm not really sure what to do next :P but I can take a guess, anyway.....
acuVasistha: :)
mfrischwing there was no release of amd-64 for sarge etch is the first one.
VasisthaAcu: did you already do the /etc/init.d/nfs-kernel-server restart
wingmfrisch: thanks ...
mikeyhow can I tell my kernel number?
Vasisthamikey uname -r
mikeyty
mentorAha. The key might be to ensure that your headphones support a better codec than just the madatory Sub-Band Codec
If anyone cares
VasisthaTCW: when the network gets busy, the debhelper bot (which works for freenode) limits the channel population so as to discourage people who don't *really* need to be here from auto-joining or whatever.
mikeyonly got 2.6.18. Need >2.6.2 for ntfs-3g to work. How can I upgrade?
mfrischdamn!!!!
Vasisthamikey: 18 is bigger than 2
TCWanyway, I want to have the _exact_ source for the running kernel (debian kernel 2.6.20) installed as I need to tweak just one option, recompile _exactly_ as it is right now... how do I do that? I installed linux-tree-2.6.20, unpacked linux-source-2.6.20.tar.bz2 and theres a folder kernel-patches... how do I proceed?
abrotman_mikecc: 2.6.18 is way higher
mikey20 I meant :\
mentorWell, it's actually setup to stop join/part flooding
mikeysorry my bad
abrotman_ntfs3g should work with 2.6.18
mikeydoesn't
GuerinTCW: man make-kpkg
mentorAt least that's what I remember we set it up for
mikeyget an error when mount -a
hanasakiwould someone give me a handwith iptables? my nfs tcp is being blocked.. i can paste it to pastebin
abrotman!iptalbes
!iptables
dpkgwell, iptables is the user-space process used to administer iptables kernel parts on top of netfilter, somewhat like ipchains was in 2.2.. NOT a virgin, see ipchains, or ask me about <netfilter docs>, or at http://netfilter.org/ or http://lartc.org/.(check it out because iptables (2.4.x) has some security holes) See also: masq, or try #iptables for help, or for a proper debian-way of setting up iptables, please read http://www.howtoforge.com/node/450
TCWGuerin, don't get me wrong, I don't want to use make-kpkg, I am just a bit confused how I get linux-source-2.6.20 to actually "source with debian patches"
VasisthaAcu: ah yes, that's something to check too -- make sure your firewall isn't blocking it, on either side
