pifno swapping, 1gig mem
xorg is using 6 - 9 % of the cpu all the time
wolsVasistha: except maybe with exchange or other windows software, a MTA and the mail storage are ALWAYS different
pifit seems firefox is a real ressource hog
wolspif: no shit sherlock
pifwhat's the alternative
Vasisthawols: you're referring to the IMAP server side, right?
FuwexMake - command not found - is that something I can install from the Debian CD then?
make*
wolsVasistha: I'm just saying an imap server an a MTA are different things
Thmscan I plug a hard disk on my linux pc and analyse for windows virus on this pc ?
on this hdd
wolsThms: yes
you might need a virus scanner for linux tho
VasisthaThms: dunno if you'll find linux software that detects windows viruses ... maybe clamav?
basantashresthaI did apt-get dist-upgrade from so called etch stable but came across fam which is broken, now I am stuck, please help!
wolsand you might need to ntfs-3g to be able to write
Thmswols okay
torrrI have a few MD5 for passwords from one program, can I use them as md5 passwords?
plutonashow could i write a dvd from console? I have 4.7G dvd's and k3b allows me only to go till 4.4
Fuwexhmm, I'm a little stuck - I've got the drivers for my network card on a floppy, but I need to be able to run 'make' to install them, but make isn't installed it seems - can I install it from the debian CD?
haggzvasistha: http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO/Mail-Administrator-HOWTO.html is a pretty comprehensive document, not up to date but full of info.
harkFuwex: yes, use apt-cdrom to add the cd, then install build-essential
Fuwexok, thanks hark :)
Vasisthahaggz: thanks very much!
torrrhow do I generate md5 password like in passwd file to console?
wolstorrr: no. if you mean normal account passwords that is
those use crypt() plus a salt
torrrwols, I have something else with lib-pwdfile
or is it hte other way around filepwd
Braindeadplutonas: growisofs can overburn. too bad you'll end up with coasters
basantashresthais there any option of bypass a broken package and go on with apt-get dist-upgrade configuration ?
wolsbasantashrestha: what is broken and how?
torrrno its libpam-pwdfile
wolstorrr: I don't think those are MD5
basantashresthawols, I did apt-get dist-upgrade and there was error processing fam, so can't continue with dist-upgrade
wolsunless you did something different from normal debian in which case you#re expected to know what you did, it always uses /etc/passwd und /etc/shadow
torrrwols, ok, do you know anyway a tool that makes md5 passwords?
wolsbasantashrestha: paste the error in pastebin
basantashresthawols, ok
