itchiwols: ah, euhm, yeah, now you tell about that :-p
rainabba_jelly-home: wols said neither, not me
wols: I'd agree if the open-source software could compete, but the reality is that it's not mature enough yet (despite my hopes and dreams).
itchiwols: I planned to use vmware-server, or somethings better and completely free, such as openvz, but to bugy at this stage :-s But realy realy nice stuff btw
jelly-homerainabba_: exactly. Use the right tool for the job.
wolstrouble with vmware is right now: it doesn't use any hardware virtualization
rainabba_wols: I've spent 4 days finding this out the hard way (harrasing the nice folks in Debian, Fedora, and CentOS)
wolswhich is not such a bad thing right now cause there are cpus without that, but it will bein future
rainabba_: is your cpu VT capable?
rainabba_wols: At the moment, vmware still provides a MUCH more friendly experience for software virtualization though. Yes, Core2Duo
itchirainabba_: openvz is the nicest tool to manage, i find, but that sad quota bug gggrrrr
rainabba_wols: It works for every OS I've thrown at it too.
itchi: openvz manages which technology?
itchirainabba_: no, to manage
rainabba_: To manage your vm's
rainabba_itchi: based on what technology though? (qemu, bochs, xen, etc...)
itchirainabba_: I dunno :-p
rainabba_: No one i thought
I had read that openvz is faster as kvm too
rainabba_: I not find that article directly back, i think it was somewhere on the openvz website.
rainabba_itchi: Any gui tools for openvz (already installed the kernel patch and vzctl)
itchirainabba_: nope no need, just use your cli :-)
rainabba_bahh
itchirainabba_: See here my draft notes http://dvm.zapto.org:3334/~david/guicms/html/articles/one.php?number=264
rainabba_Not finding an OS compatibility list for OpenVZ, it do Windows?
liable!baa
dpkgsomebody said baa was the sound a sheep makes
liablepffft
itchirainabba_: Dunno, i not use that at home :-)
rainabba_itchi: That looks less friendly to use than Xen or KVM
itchirainabba_: I find that peace of cake
rainabba_: I dunno about Xen and KVM at this stage
rainabba_itchi: Maybe "piece of cake" when you've got one of those templates, but would you say the same without one?
itchirainabba_: Just that f* crap quota bug in openvz, otherwise that stuff is kina awesome
rainabba_: Yeah
Kruserif i create a raid 5 array with 3 discs and mdadm, can i later add another disk tu grow up the space on the array ?
fericitu_itchi, when use apt-get install webmin (like exemple) where are all files installed ???
bzedKruser: you CAN with raid 5 or raid 6, but that's still experimental code, you should NOT try it without backup
liablefericitu_: dpkg -L webmin
itchifericitu_: /var/cache/apt/archives/
