yangtowarzysz: #kernelnewbies
GeorgeS069graytron: ssh
tarzeaupickcoder: pity, no
ilredsi've used tcpdum for analize the traffic
WandererBTW, my company is looking for a Debian Unix admin with 3+ years of exerience doing more than installingpackages. Job is in Atlanta. If you know anyone feel free to have em ms me
pickcodertarzeau: how are you trying to do I/O? C?
Wanderererr, msg me
tarzeaupickcoder: yes, inb/outb
graytronGeorgeS069: hehe :D
towarzyszI am getting the following error when I run 'make-kpkg clean', "Error. I do not know where the kernel image goes to [kimagedest undefined] The usual case for this is that I could not determine which arch or subarch this machine belongs to. Please specify a subarch, and try again"
sidjsteri compile my kernel
graytronWanderer: very nice. there's a mailing list for this too, some "debian-jobs" or whatever
Wanderer: just so you know
GeorgeS069graytron: All webmin really does is read and write your .conf files....there's no "magic" involved and once you know where to find those .conf files it's usually pretty simple to configure them yourself.
pickcoderGeorgeS069: unless you're using shorewall....
<g>
dkror gnome
actionpickcoder gets dizzy looking at the configs
pickcodergets dizzy looking at the configs
graytronGeorgeS069: but there are certain advantages to using GUIs sometimes, especially if you're not a Debian professional :)
rahulGUIs are great if they have a command line
karmatronicrahul: yeah , like nmapfe
rahul: who needs that ?
rahulhuh?
graytrondpkg-reconfigure is great
GeorgeS069I'm hardly a "debian professional" but,I've managed to setup Samba,BIND,Postfix and apache with several domains and never used webmin :)
yangdoes mozilla have an option (just like firefox) to stay in the same tab, when opening "new link in a new tab"
rahulkarmatronic: that's not a command line
karmatronicrahul: gui is cool but if command line is well designed , going through the command line is better
rahulkarmatronic: nor is it a command line within a gui
karmatronic: if a gui is well-designed, going through the command line is better than going through a CLI
ewanm89rahul: KVirc then
GeorgeS069there is always SWAT for samba configs if you need it but,I don't see how that is any more or less safe than webmin
MatBoyis it possible to setup a fax on a Debian server that saves the faxes as attachments ? something with a frontent on a workstation, webbased or whatever ?
rahulactually, irc could use a good gui
so you can click on nicks to perform commands on them.
or treat a message as an object
towarzyszcould anyone help me with this problem, I am getting the following error when I run 'make-kpkg clean', "Error. I do not know where the kernel image goes to [kimagedest undefined] The usual case for this is that I could not determine which arch or subarch this machine belongs to. Please specify a subarch, and try again"
ewanm89rahul: Like query right click select query in KVirc
graytronGeorgeS069: i've never used webmin either :-) however after seeing how YaST2 configures most important settings in SUSE, i'd hope that Debian had something similar also
rahulfor example, get the raw irc message behind something that's on the screen
