NY Lost Funds

RenfieldI just did an apt-get upgrade, and am having problems.
sepFJ_Sanchez, the debian one say 1:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty1 if that fail ask in #knoppix or install debian :)
FJ_Sanchezsep It's not for installing, it's for booting a lot of computers using rembo throught network
RenfieldWith openbsd-inetd I get: Starting internet superserver: inetdinvoke-rc.d: initscript openbsd-inetd, action "start" failed.
FJ_SanchezI need autoconfig of the hardware
abrotmanFJ_Sanchez: great .. ask #knoppix
or use the debian livecd
FJ_SanchezThanks anyway
RenfieldApparently this failure cascades to make a bunch of other packages fail, and now I'm stuck.
sepFJ_Sanchez, install debian etch , install the package ltsp-server-standalone, and read the docs in /usr/share/doc/ltsp-server
FJ_Sanchezsep I don't want LTSP, I don't want an overheaded server
I want each PC compiling itself
It's for a university
RenfieldSo what do I need to do to get openbsd-inetd to configure properly?
sepFJ_Sanchez, ltsp5 muecow can be used for both
FJ_SanchezMmm, interesting. I'll check this posibility
sepFJ_Sanchez, you first make the thinclient chroot, with ltsp-build-client, then make that intoa netboot comuter chroot with ltsp-make-client
iirc
spawn57hi, can anyone help me out with setting up user authentication in sarge?
raf256/msg dpkg tracker of doom
damn
stewspawn57: authentication for what exactly?
spawn57logins for now, nss and pam
stewspawn57: what needs seting up? what is wrong with the default setup?
sepspawn57, there are numerous howtows on the net for this. in addition to the docs in /usr/share/doc/libnss-*/libpam-*
spawn57well I followed a bunch of how tos, espeically the one at http://home.subnet.at/~max/ldap, but nss doesn't seem to find the user I added
i used md5 hashes instead of crypt though, another howto said that md5 works
apkIf I have a database server accepting connections only from 127.0.0.1, and another daemon connects to it on 127.0.0.1, is it possible for other non-root users to see that traffic?
spawn57I can't tell if nss is searching ldap whether slapd is being queried
bizhi, i'm using postfix-tls on sarge (which is 2.1.5-9), however i need postfix 2.3 due to smtpd_sasl_authenticated_header which is within 2.3, which backport should i use? any experiences with the ones from backports.org? or is there another 'stable' backport of postfix 2.3 that is updated for every known security problem? any experiences?
stewapk: no
biz: backports.org is almost definately the best bet for stable backports
bizstew: thanks
sepbiz, why do you need smtpd_sasl_authenticated_header, anyway
the only reason to use that would be to harvest addresses or some seriously obscure internal servers
fireba11hm ... i need to extract a few numbers from a webpage on the shell ... i figured i can get it simply with curl, what do i use to extract the value i want ?
apksed and awk
spawn57argh, nss can't find ldap
FJ_Sanchezsep: I think LTSP muekow isn't ready for production
It's more like a proof of concept...
