fridimI don't understand.
WyzardRun grub on the CD and tell it "root (hd0,0)" or whatever the appropriate numbers are
and then "setup (hd0)"
fridimi've tried that
It says : can't read
bad fs type
(raid1...)
I retry
Wyzardgrub mentions raid1?
holaangWyzard, the full command is: grub root (hd0,0)?
WyzardNo, the grub command gives you an interactive shell
fridimWyzard, no
Wyzard"root" is a command in that shell
fridim(no it didn't mention raid1)
enoufuse tab completion to help
holaangWyzard, ok, help will give the command list. but which command will re-inwtall grub?
Wyzardfridim: afaik, Linux software RAID puts the RAID metadata at the end of the device, so if you look at a RAID1 component device directly, it just looks like an ordinary filesystem
fridim: GRUB knows nothing about RAID... you just want to point it at one of the two partitions that make up your /boot array, and it'll boot from it just like it boots from any other ordinary partition
enouffridim: try device <tab<tab>
fridimWHen you said grub on the install-cd : where is it ? In the menu after loading linux or at the boot prompt ?
WyzardPress Alt-F2
and Enter to get a shell
enouffridim: the ash/busybox shell
WyzardRun grub from there
ma3xhi, something freezes my system once in a while, and it's either amarok or xmms. but I can't exactly find out. which one do you think could it be?
holaangWyzard i have grub error during boot. will grub-install reinstall grub?
fridimI've done that for hours there is no grub command
Wyzardyes
pinxI'm using lokkit for writing simple iptables till I learn better, but it puts "ACCEPT all -- anywhere anywhere" as the first line in iptables even when on "high" security. Anyone able to explain/help?
enoufholaang: using a livecd?
Wyzardfridim: You ran "grub" from the shell on the install CD and it didn't find it?
fridimyes
holaangenouf, no, an installation cd.
enoufholaang: ok .. follow the fridim thread then .. ;-)
Wyzardfridim: I'm pretty sure it's there, but if not, you can do the mount-and-chroot thing after all
holaangenouf, doing so.
enouffridim: which install CD?
Wyzardfridim: Go to the partitioning step, but don't actually change anything... just "configure software RAID" and immediately exit, then "configure LVM" and immediately exit
fridimnetinstall
testing netinstall
